Title: Farm near Buckland St Mary
Post by: Simon007 on Thursday 29 August 13 18:27 BST (UK)
I have a relative, Paige Shire, who farmed 100 acres of farmland at somewhere called "Swiss Hill Estate" on the 1841 census and, presumably the same farm, "Swiss Hill Farm" on the 1851 census - both Buckland St Mary. I was trying to find out where this farm is today, or even if it still exists, and came upon a farm near Buckland St Mary now called "Shires Farm" !  Is this coincidence or was the name of the farm changed to that of my relative ?

Does anyone have an old map showing where abouts "Swiss Hill Farm" was, as "Shires Farm" has a postcode of TA20 3RB.  I wondered if there was anyone on here who could give me any more information.
