Thought I would see what a touch of colour would do for this photo?

What a shame it's such a small file...Could you not request a larger scan from the person who sent it to you?

This is the best I can do.  The walls of the building are quite 'pock marked' near the bottom, these are not imperfections on the picture but maybe down to a little natural wear and tear of the paintwork/brickwork.  I believe in keeping as much of the original picture as possible so you may get better pictures from other people later.

Better?

Much better scan Angela, well done. This will help the restorers get you a much better result more true to the original. Adding the flowering window boxes was just my attempt to make the best of what I had to work with. I can't wait to see what the experts do with it now :)

Wow!! These are great.I just fiddled with the pic from the email Mopsy_Jay.The first one I had posted,I had already resized quite small,so I downloaded it again. We are not sure who the chap out front is,we know its not the owner.May be his brother or son.No idea of date or anything. I believ the building is still there too.

I couldn't resist having a play with the new scan :) This time I tried to repair the look of the shop as it might have looked once.

It's a shame you don't know who the man is... maybe one day huh!

Found this comment on pic from my cousin.

"...we think, is Jim Cater in front of one of the Bridgeton shops.  There’s a sign on the right hand side which gives the address (215 Main Street, Bridgeton) of the main branch but my mum thinks the shop in the photo is somewhere near John Street Secondary School so not actually too far from the main one. "

If it's Jim Cater, then, that would be the boxer,so,its his son, boxed in Olympic team.

Thanks for the colouring,it's lovely.
