Hi Remus

Who, where and when ?

I have a Julia HARDY born 1855 Corbridge married to a George HARMIESON born about 1858 Belford. They married in 1881 and in 1891 and 1901 were living at Whalton, Northumberland.

Regards

Hi Helen

Thanks very much for that information, I know of George but not about the 1891 or 1901 census, I just hope to get information on any one of my family. I've been trying to find the marriage of James Harmison to Matilda Dryden abt 1848.

Thanks

Remus

I've just read your posting.

I know that there was a Joseph Harmison/Harmeson born q2 1861 Berwick 10b 317

This may help.

Yours J.A

Hi sharmor

I've also done quite a bit of research into the HARDY and HARMIESON families.  Though not my direct line, I liked the surnames and couldn't resist!!

My interest is through Robert HARDY, brother of Julia.  He was born 29 November 1863 at Thornbrough.  He married my Great Grandmother Sarah Jane YOUNG, formerly ROBSON on 9 February 1907 at St Andrews, Newcastle.  They had no children.

Sarah Jane ROBSON was born at Newton Fell House 3Q 1854 (have baptism, but birth certificate evades me!), daughter of John ROBSON and Barbara MARSHALL.  She first married George YOUNG 13 May 1875 at Usworth, Co Durham.  George died 5 December 1894.

My mam remembers visiting Robert HARDY in the early 1920's at the 'Inkwell' - the name the family called the cottage he lived in while a Gardener at Howden Dene, Corbridge.

What is your connection to the HARDY family?

Regards

Helen K

Hello Helen, I have  never researched Robert Hardy as only his sister Julia was married to an ancestor. I know the inkwell, it still stands and was sold off 2 years ago as Howded was put up for sale in  seperate lots. All of my family have always called it the Inkwell. I still have quite a few family at Corbridge and live near myself
