gosh thanks.no I don't know what age he might have been when he died but I might send for that death certificate and see if he died by drowning.cant think why it would be registered in Yeovil though.unfortunately I am doing this for my daughter and she hasn't any family left on her side as far as we know.she was born from my first marriage.can you find Frederick in 1911 cencus as I know he got married in thornbury but I also know his wife arrived in England early 1900s via langport which I think is near Yeovil.if he was working on the railway I suppose he might have met her around there?its quite a mystery!!!!

Hi,
Have found a Probate for Frederick W Cook who died in 1935, Yeovil, his address was 23 Westlands Terrace, Yeovil. Probate to John Herbert Cook retired railway station master. Effects £332 1s 1d.
So perhaps not the Frederick you are researching ???
Unfortunately we are not able to do 1911 lookups, however you could search the 1911 through free access on Ancestry.

This could be why Rosa and Frederick are alone in 1901 -
There is an Edwin Cook (b.1858, Swindon) on the 1901 census in the Swindon and Highworth Union Workhouse.

at some point between 1901 and 1913 they have to move to thornbury as that is where he married Kathleen daly and then somehow they have to get to saltford.what a headache!!!!I do thank you for your help though.we are beginning to unravel it all.
-
Have you tried searching the British Newspapers as there may be a report on the death of Frederick as it certainly seemed news worthy as to the circumstances of his death.

He may have been ill, sometimes admittance to the workhouse was the only option to get treatment.
Frederick was working and able to support his mother and himself.

sorry I haven't seen your reply before.i am the mother of freds gt.grandadught.her father being freds grandson.i know Kathleen his wife very well and I of course I knew his daughter up until his her death.kathleen is buried in saltford and her daughter matilda ethel millard nee cook is buried with her husband in keynsham cemetary.her son only died less the 18 years ago.i would have to check my tree for date.when he drowned it was a open verdict as his hands were tied behind his back and his feet were tied.whether he did that himself or someone did it is not known.pm if you want more info.
