Title: Glasnevin Cemetery, Grave Photo Please!
Post by: msbonbon65 on Wednesday 14 August 13 03:40 BST (UK)
Hi,

I would greatly appreciate the help of someone living near or going to visit Glasnevin Cemetery, Dublin, Ireland. I have just purchased from Glasnevin Cemetery the information regarding the location of the grave of my great, great, great grandmother Margaret (Creaghan) Crowe of Rathfarnham, Dublin, Ireland who died 28 Dec 1882 on Lower Sherriff Street, Dublin, Ireland.  I would be most grateful for a photo of her grave to add to my family tree and to give her decedents here in America.  The information is below;

Glasnevin      Letter: ZB        Figures:  72.5      Section:  Garden

If any further information is require please let me know!    Thanks in advance!

Maria

hi Maria     Look in "Dublin Resources and Offers"   There is a topic there "Glasnevin Cemetery - Looking for a grave" by Carrutc.  Looks like they are willing to take photo, if you give them the details by personal message.  :)   .conahy

Maria

I got your pictures on a visit (fruitless) to find a grave of my own relative.

The inscription reads
Mary coneived
without
original sin pray for the soul of
Mr Malachy Crow
Rathfarnham
who departed this life 11th Dec 1853
Aged 65 years
This stone was erected by his beloved wife
Mrs Margaret Crow

There is no mention of Margaret being buried in the plot.

Send me your email address via private msg and I will forward the images, they are larger than rootschat allows.

There is no mention of Margaret being buried in the plot.

I've found with Glasnevin that it's worthwhile to purchase the extended report on any grave of interest.  Recently we visited the grave of my wife's maternal grandparents, and having located the plot there was a headstone with their names on it.

However, the fact that I had the extended report I knew that the plot also contained her great-grandparents, along with 4 other members of the family.

Its worth getting all information of people buried within a plot. I visited Glasnevin this year one relative
did not have a headstone at all. The other relative had a headstone which only referred to the mother and father. but there were other family members buried there.
So do buy as much information from Glasnevin as is available, but cautionary note don't contact when you come home to ask any question. So far I have e-mailed them 4 times without a reply. I requested as to the cost of  placing a headstone on the relative who is without and that did not stimulate them into action.  Maybe busy LOL
