First of all, not been on here for a while but I like the new look.
My daughter recently got married. Both she and her husband have now adopted the surname of Silver-Burr (obviously, my daughter was the Silver and her partner the Burr).
I've not got a problem recording this in my written tree but I cannot find a way of doing it in any of the software packages I use.
Any suggestions much appreciated.

The way I would do it is record her as Silver and him as Burr and only record any future children as Silver-Burr (this is assuming you have followed the convention of using people's birth surname)

The Master Genealogist allows any number of names to be recorded. This makes dealing with the many variant names in my one-name study much easier.
The program still suggests that children inherit the "primary" surname from the father, but you can select which one that ought to be, or just edit the surname if you prefer. All the names for an individual appear in the relevant index. Nicknames etc are catered for too.
I'm surprised that other software seems to be lacking in this regard, since most brides in the english-speaking world change their surnames on marriage. Changing the groom's surname would seem to be the same process.

Yes, all the software I use allow for adding other names and nicknames. It's just that they don't appear in the name indexes. Guess I'll just have to wait for my first grandchild!
