Is someone able to check UK-Canada passenger lists please for the following -
HALLORAN/HALLOREN, John (b. abt 1832) Frances (abt 1840) & son John (abt 1880) from Lancashire.
Most likely period would be between 1881-1891 and possibly then settled in Ottawa, Ontario CANADA.

Hi Glenn
Are you certain your John Halloran was born in England?
The 1891 Canadian census shows the following Hallorans living in Ottawa, Ontario:
John Halloran, 59, head, b. Ireland, Roman Catholic, labourer
Francis (sic), 51, wife, b. England, Church of England
John Halloran, 8, son, b. Ireland
Their birth dates tally with those you cited. Are these your Hallorans? If so, send me a PM and I'll forward that census extract to you.
Cheers,
Rodeo

Hi. It's not necessary to send the census. It is online at Library and Archives Canada - searchable by name. Here's a link to the 1891 census search page:
http://www.bac-lac.gc.ca/eng/census/1891/Pages/1891.aspx (http://www.bac-lac.gc.ca/eng/census/1891/Pages/1891.aspx)
As well, here are links to the 1901 census which is now also searchable by name:
http://www.bac-lac.gc.ca/eng/census/1901/Pages/1901.aspx (http://www.bac-lac.gc.ca/eng/census/1901/Pages/1901.aspx)
and the 1911 census - also searchable by name:
http://www.bac-lac.gc.ca/eng/census/1911/Pages/1911.aspx (http://www.bac-lac.gc.ca/eng/census/1911/Pages/1911.aspx)
There are images as well for the census and it is free.

Thanks Jacquie
My first endeavours at hunting in Canada and trying to find my way around.
I now have the 1891 & 1901`
Will see what I can dig up with the 1911.
I believe Francis died in 1901.
Thanks... Glenn

I have no idea if anyone has already mentioned this but Immigration records on Ancestry.ca are free to search over the long weekend.(Includes Canadian, US, UK and Ireland and European immigration records)
Maybe you'll get lucky using that :)

Is this her death, perhaps reverting to Irish spelling... Frances Hongers O'Halloran Burial: 18 Jun 1901 Saint Patrick, Ottawa, Carleton, Ont.
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/F2P1-597
( ancestry has death down as Frances Ohalloran)
Can't locate the entry here, though, under any of the various spellings, perhaps the grave marker did not last the century... http://www.canadianheadstones.com/on/cemetery.php?cemID=649&pg=10

Hi JJ, thanks for that. The middle name doesn't seem to fit. Not to say it is or isn't her though. Could have taken the O'Halloran name after moving to Canada. I have very little to go on and not at all sure how to find things in Canada... but trying

You can't be doing too badly as you found them in 1901 and I cannot...Do you have a link to the image?
I didn't think there would have been a great deal of Halleron/Halleran/O'Haller___with the first name of Frances, especially also living in Ottawa, with husband John...But of course one needs 2 sources of info to confirm...
Perhaps it was she who didn't want the O kept, you never know...What was her maiden name then?
if you have specific questions, don't be afraid to ask..BUT... also let us know what you know, ie: you had an idea she'd died in 1901, was she missing from the census or had you some family history info?? J.J.
I do see John's christening in 1883 Derby... Do you have the parents in 1881? https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/J3LF-9BW
ahhhh, Did they return to England after the death of Frances?

Do you have the marriage? I guess the natural choice may be with Frances Spooner on page, Sept Q Derby 1881 but unless positive...
This is also a John with no spouse listed on page:
Marriage Dec quarter 1880 / Halloran, John Salford district vol.8d p.1069
as well as this one same quarter:
ANGUS Frances and Hallo* John Salford dist. 8d 74
