Looking for help to find the death of Robert Gilmour in Canada between the years 1924-1928. He left Scotland in 1924. If anyone can help me I would really appreciate it.

Is this him leaving for Canada:
12 April 1924 Glasgow to Halifax, NS on the Colombia. Aged 45, listed as a miner. Address - 7 Raith Place, Bothwell.
If he died in an accident about 6 mths after leaving, it would be approx Oct 1924.
I've not found anything yet but we'd need to have a rough idea about where he went after Halifax.

Have you contacted this Cemetery to see if they can give further information on the age of Robert, date of death etc., ?

Hi,
Yes this is Robert Gilmour, he left Scotland on the 12-4-1924. He was travelling alone, and supposed to go to James Fox.
His date of birth is 25 Apr 1878, and he married Rachel Perry on 11 Feb 1898. At the time of his departure he was living at Raith Place, Bothwellhaugh, Scotland.
It is a complete mystery what happened to him. He left Scotland leaving his wife and 13 children behind. The family story is that he had an accident and died very shortly after arriving in Canada, some say 6mths. I have searched all the places I know, which admittedly isn't that many as I am very new to Canadian research. In 1927 his eldest son James got married, and he was listed as deceased on the wedding certificate. That is all I know. I did write to the cemetery Sandra mentioned, and got no response, but I will try again.

The Form30A originally shows he was going to his brother rather than a friend. He might have moved on from Ontario quite quickly. From an online family tree it shows a sister in Winnipeg and a brother, James Haddow Gilmour in Winnipeg in 1913, Alberta in 1916 and a death in British Columbia in 1963. He had family that he might have travelled to.
Again from online family trees parents of Robert were James Gilmour and Jane Haddow.
Robert's death might have incurred anywhere in Canada. If he went west to stay with his brother John and he was still in Alberta at that time there are no online death registration indexes.
Ontario death registrations are not always complete. I have two gravesites, cemetery burial information that have no accompanying Ontario death registrations in the years between 1915-1930, for whatever reason. Perhaps Robert crossed the border into the U.S. and died there. Perhaps the family story of his accidental death covers an abandonment.
You started this new thread with such bare information when you had so much information already that is always important to share when asking for assistance. Always use an existing thread rather than starting a new one because it keeps all information gathered together and is easier for everyone willing to help.

I apologize for not including all the information that I had. I do appreciate all the assistance that I get.
I agree that the story of his death may be a cover for abandonment, but feel I need to explore every avenue that I can before I accept that.
Who would I get in touch with to check deaths in Alberta please.
I am still trying to learn how to use this fantastic site properly. What do you mean by using and existing thread?

I am not even sure if I am replying to these post the correct way. One quiet day I will sit and really try to learn how to do things on this site.
Anyway thank you for the links, I will give them a try, and hopefully come up with something.
