Title: Ann Hampton WEEKS
Post by: mgeneas on Thursday 01 August 13 17:20 BST (UK)
Ann Hampton WEEKS married William HARRIS or COOPER (he later settled on Harris) at Market Lavington 19th Aug 1797.
(some of their children were baptised as Cooper, others as Harris, or both - but that is not my problem)

Ann died Nov 1858 in Urchfont and her age at death suggests that she was born about 1776.
In the 1851 census she was recorded as Ann HARRIS, a widow age 75 born Lavington.

Who was Ann?  I have not found any record of her in the baptism registers of Urchfont, Market Lavington or West Lavington as HAMPTON or WEEKS.

Thanks for your interest
Yes, that Ann was only 5 days old in 1795 when she was baptised, so not a candidate

Hi  :)
Despite being a young 21yrs old (approx) at the time of her marriage, maybe she was a widow at the time and therefore would have had a different birth surname? Unlikely but possible... ::)
Cheers

I have seen very young widows (and I have one in one of my Somerset lines) but the marriage register does say that she is a spinster.
The witnesses are not helpful - Benjamin PESKY? & Francis SMITH.

There were HAMPTON and WEEKS/WICKS/WIX baptisms in the time period that she was born, but no Ann.
And no marriage between a WEEKS and a HAMPTON.
