I am looking for information about Mary Anne Ward and Maria Ward (sisters) and Albert E Skyne and Ernest A Skyne (brothers) who were living in New York. In the 1890's they lived at #346 East 42nd Street, NY, NY and I have found them in the 1900 US census living at #17 101st Street, NY, NY . I cannot find the Skynes after 1900. In 1906 Miss M Ward is found at #215 West 121st Street, NY, NY. After 1906 I cannot find the Ward sisters either. Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you very much for that Lisa in California. He is the Ernest Skyne that I was looking for.

Did Ernest play cricket? Or, were there two people with the same name in New York, born around the same time?

You're welcome.
I've not been able to find his brother, yet. :-\
Two sites you may use to continue the search for the Wards and for Albert:

I better turn off the computer now; it is late in California. ;)

Thank you again Lisa. I didn't know he played cricket but it is him.

At the 1900 I can only see Ernest (listed as nephew) with the Wards - where was Albert?
I can see Albert's birth, but nothing else on him:

I see Albert Skyne in city directories for Manhattan in 1891 & 1892. Ernest is in the 1897 city directory, but not Albert.

Thank you jorose and shellyesq for this information. So in 1891+92 both Albert E Skyne and Mary A Ward were living at #346 East 42nd Street, NY, NY and Ernest A Skyne was living there in 1897.
In 1903 I have Richard J Ward (another nephew of Mary Anne Ward) living at what looks to be #271 West 113th Street, New York, NY and then in 1905 he and his family are in Indianapolis, Marion, Indiana at 21E Market h, The Pierson. In 1906 a Miss M Ward is at #215 West 121st Street, New York, NY. I cannot find Albert E Skyne anywhere after 1892. Six members of the Ward/Skyne families died, in Dublin, between 1878 and 1885, including Ernest and Albert’s parents. Some inheritance was left to the unmarried Mary Anne Ward by her father and sister Ellen Skyne and I think that she must have taken the two teenage Skyne sons and her younger sister Maria to New York in 1887. Perhaps Albert E Skyne died in the early 1890’s. I am wondering if he was a cricket player like his brother. Richard J Ward and his family immigrated to New York in 1893.
I am waiting for two death certificates to arrive from Dublin and these may help me with my search.

The death certificate for Ellen Skyne has arrived and it is recorded that she died of cerebrospinal arachnitis in Dublin in 1884. I wonder if this might be the final result of tuberculosis. Perhaps this caused the deaths of the Skyne family members.

have you searched the ny state census series (not the Federal)? If you haven't follow this link to indexes and images for the state census series that may be useful
