My Great-Grandad was abandoned as a toddler, and he never spoke about his father, not even by name. Unfortunately, he died without every knowing what became of him, even though I am sure part of him wanted to know.
I was therefore wondering whether anyone with access to the 1911 census could research for me. My family do not know that I am researching him, but I really would like to find out.
If anyone could help me I'd be much appreciated.
My Great-Grandad was called Ivan Frederick Hall, born 30th November 1915
His mother, and wife to my Great, Great Grandfather: Mabel Eleen Bard, born abt. 1893 in Essex
I realise this is a lot to ask, but I really would appreciate it! I will carry on digging in the mean time!

Was Bard Mabel's maiden surname or her married name? I can't find a birth for a Mabel Eleen (Eileen? Ellen?) Bard, or variations thereof, at all around that date. You perhaps need to get hold of the marriage certificate for Mabel, as that will tell you who her father was.
There's a Mabel Bard in the 1911 census (but sorry, we're not allowed to do 1911 look-ups on RootsChat).
The only birth registered in 1915 for Ivan F Hall is in Horsham, Sussex, with mother's maiden name Hall.
