Hi
I am wondering why Alexander Webster (a whaler born in Dundee circa 1852) named almost all his children with a middle name Stewart regardless if they were male or female? His father was James Webster Coach-builder and his mother was Helen Gullon/ Gailor,(on Alexanders marriage Certificate) I am also sure he is descended from dissenting church members so does anyone know if there was a significant "Stewart" Minister in the area, or any clues?

Hi
Any Stewarts on his wife's side of the family?

Can't get further back than Alexanders Parents on his Marriage certificate to Margaret Kay in 1873 Lochee, Dundee and at time of marriage they were United Presbyterians. Both his death and Marriage information concur he was born 1851/ 52. His Father James is stated as a coachbuilder.
Alexander had an S after his own name in 1911 but that could be a mistake, although it could take it back a generation.
