Title: George Richards, Ruabon
Post by: hmc86 on Thursday 25 July 13 14:43 BST (UK)
Hi all, I was wondering if somebody could help me.
My 2nd great grandfather was George Richards born in 1850 in Ruabon. On the 1851 census, I have his mother as Elizabeth but she's widowed and I can't trace the family further back than that. Research has led me to believe her husband was possibly William Richards, born 1800, died 1850. Could anybody confirm this for me?
I know they had six children, of which George was the youngest.
Elizabeth's occupation is given as Publican, and in later censuses she and her second husband John Roberts are running the Eagles in Acrefair, so I wonder if she and William ran it first.
Any help appreciated

Hi

I can't see an 1841 entry either

A copy of one of the childrens birth certs will confirm fathers name and occ and also Elizabeth's maiden name

Births

Hi and welcome  :)

I'm not surprised that you can't find her on the 1841 - much of the Wrexham area - including Ruabon is missing. There are previous threads on this - will add the link*

Those of us with ancestors in that area have had to resort to all sorts of different searches  :-X

It looks like Elizabeth married John Roberts at Llangollen in 1855?

Regards
William Russell Jones.

Thanks everyone, I don't know why I didn't think of certificates before. I've ordered them for different people over the years, my mind must have just blanked on it this time!

Find My Past has the burial of William Richards b 1800 buried 1850 at Ruabon.
It may be worth taking a look , it may state his abode.
