Hi
Looking for information/suggestions on tracing my great grandfather, David Nagle, died October 16th 1941 - though no sure if he died in Ireland
He came from County Cork, Doneraile I believe and married a Mary Crone on June 10th 1919.
They had three sons - Jack, William (my grandfather) and James (Jimmy).
Mary died, aged 72 on April 11th, 1959 and her last address was 6 Chaple View, Doneraile, Mallow, County Cork.
Family folklore said that David was a well to do farmer and travelled to America (?) and spent a lot of his wealth.
All help welcomed

When was he born?
Have you checked the 1901 and 1911 Irish census for him? Quite a number of that name
Was he actually born in Doneraile or just live there

You can search the Irish civil registration index online (free- goes up to 1958)- only 5 David Nagles died in Ireland in the 1940s and none correspond with the date you've posted.

do you have davids fathers name from marriage certificate. if dates of death and ages are correct here are corresponding births from family search.
david nagle son of john nagle and mary mahony

these are not definite but match with what you have given a church record of the marriage would possibly give all four parents.
-
If that is the correct David - he would have been 51 when he married Mary
-
anythings possible. my grandfather was a widower got married again in 1922 age 52 to a 30 yr old had 3 children, one of which was my father.
-
No - I wasn't saying it wasn't possible - just commenting on how old he was at that time.

Sorry - wrong image - will post again

if you are not sure where he died are you sure of the year 1941. here is a more suitable one keeping in relevance to ages.
david nagle.
death cork age 65.
oct dec 1949.
est birth 1884.
a possible birth for this one in mallow 1883.

There is a 1911 match in Cork within a year or so of the 1868 birth but he is married with a number of children
Best to wait for the 1919 marriage cert to see his age and his parents names
-
I would agree with Dathair that the 1883 birth is likelier
Possible 1901 entry
