				Hi to all membes,,
I have just discovered this site. I am researching my family history and have not been able to find  any record of birth for my grandfather. any help would be most welcome. His name Was William Owen Williams and according to his marriage cert his father was a farmer named John. He married Maria Ellen Smith of Coedpoeth Denbighshire in 1910 his stated age is 34 years and place of birth stated as Henllan Denbighshire, he died in 1955 and according to the records he was 80 years.

Maria Ellen Smith was the daughter of Thomas Smith 1856 and Sinah Jones 1857. Maria Ellen took her own life in 1917 she had been treated at Denbigh Asylum in 1910 and at a later period. William Owen was known as Will traction as he and his brother Hugh operated a traction engine in the north wales area, Hugh lived in Colwyn Bay with his wife and daughter nellie.

Any help would be most appreciated many thanks pixie101

				Hi and welcome to Rootschat

Have you already discounted this birth - although Henllan came under St Asaph back then

 Births September qtr 1874
William Owen Williams   Llanrwst  11b 376

I've just found a William Owen Williams on the 1881 - aged 6 b Gwytherin but he is a boarder with Peter & Jemima Williams.  Peter was a farmer

Gwytherin was in the Llanrwst reg district so his is the birth above
-
Have you considered that he may have been illegitimate and made up a fathers name when he married so as to appear "respectable"?

This was very common practice amongst illegitimate children back then

The baptism of that William appears to be:-

William Owen Williams 2nd May 1875 Gwytherin Father John Mother Ellen

I wonder if Peter was the brother of John and wonder if this is the same Peter from 1881 census

				Hi

 not using capitals as recommended

That only applies to the whole post - not places or names etc.  Some people inadvertantly type their whole message in upper case which makes reading it difficult
-
Peter married to Jemima isn't the same one as the son of John & Arabella. Peter & Jemima are married & living together on the 1861, Peter son of John is still living with his parents.

1861 Monachlog Farm, Northop, Flintshire RG9/4272 folio 37 pg 22
John Williams head mar 64 farmer of 170 acres b. Cilkaen
 Arabella wife 59 b. Cilkaen
 Sarah dau 22 b. Northop
 Peter son 27 b. Northop
 Edmond son 24 b. Northop
Thomas son 31 student b. Northop

Peter of Peter & Jemima gives his place of birth as Llansannan in 1861 and then Llanfair Talhaearn in 1871 & 1881. 1871 census shows a brother William Williams aged 45 living with them, also born Llanfair Talhaearn.
