Really stuck on this one!
Hello, Hoping people may be able to help me out.
Looking for more information on the family of James Fitzgerald b. abt 1851 in Ballyhoulihan Cork Ireland, married Mary McSweeney (or Sweeney b. abt 1855 Meenskehy) in 1874 Derinagree (I have conflicting sources of their marriage year, but the Irish record says 1874, the Australian record says 1875 on their daughetrs birth certificate).
Eldest daughter was Julia Ellen born en-route to Australia. They sailed from London 11th June 1875 to Queensland, Aus.
Had 3 daughters in total, Julia, Margaret and Minnie, and finally a son named Jeremiah. There were 3 male stillborns from this union.
Any help appreciated.

Do you have the Irish Marriage cert - If not there is a possible one in the marriage index - James Fitzgerald 1875 Millstreet Registration district vol. 5 page 485 and on the same page a Mary Swiney - a possibility so may be worthwhile getting the cert.

Hello, thankyou for your input.
I was always leaning towards this record for their Irish marriage, only the year is different and the Mc is missing from her surname. However this record does not have parent names.

Which would be the site for purchasing the marriage certificate?

I checked to see if it shows on the rootsireland pay per view site but it doesn't seem to be showing. You can download an application form from www.groireland.ie and then Fax or post form - suggest you ask for a photocopy of the entry in the register - costs about 4 euros much less than a cert and gives the same information. I saw a blog yesterday stating that the GRO will now e-mail you the information but I'm not sure this has begun yet. Nearly forgot to say cert will show fathers' names only not mothers and possibly their occupations.

I have family that resided in Ballyhoulihan . The names Fitzgerald and McSweeney are also in my family tree. Where in Ballyhoulihan is this family?

Hi Maellen
Sorry, I really dont have any more info on where they resided, first time researching in Ireland for me. The birth certificate for their youngest daughter places James Fitzgerald at Ballyhoulihan at Birth with no further details.
