I have had trouble tracing these family members in fact have reached a dead end. Any help or assistance would be appreciated.
Michael Peter Sullivan was born on 03.011.1879 in Lyttleton or Christchurch. His parents were John Sullivan and Elizabeth Vincent. Michael married a Lily Cotter in 1901(from BDM). I have located in NZ Electoral Rolls (Ancestry.Com) for 1905/06 a entry for Peter Sullivan and Lily Sullivan at 232 Manchester Street, Christchurch.
This is the last record I have for Michael Peter or Peter Sullivan. For the 1938 Electoral Roll for Christchurch North I have Lily Sullivan at 37 Whitmore Street, Christchurch.
They had a family of three children at least two and more likely all three children are deceased. They were Lillian Vera Sullivan (Born 1901), Eileen Sullivan (Born 1902 - died 1902) and John Leonard Sullivan (Born 1903 - died 1943).
There is thus far no death or burial record for either Michael Peter Sullivan or Lily Sullivan. Any help or assistance in this regard would be much appreciated.

Hi Alex
The above (1938) Lily, you can discount. ;)
On same roll (and also in 1935), living at same address was a "Flurrence" (most unusual name) SULLIVAN - a Labourer. He would appear to be the husband of (this) Lily.

Hi again Alex
Looks like the Bromley Cemetery burial is your Lily. :(
Last address given (cemetery record), was 15 Kensington Ave.
On the 1928 Kaiapoi (Canty.) e/roll is the son.
SULLIVAN - John Leonard - rabbitter - 15 Kensington Ave.

Hi Lu
Doesn't a "fresh pair of eyes" pair of eyes make a difference. I had been through the Christchurch Cemetery records and missed Lily Sullivan in 1930. My apologies for that oversight but thank you.
Yes I found John Leonard Sullivan .. he is a son of Michael Peter and Lily Sullivan. He died on 21.08.1943.
I shall wander off down to Ashburton and see what I can find there.
Many thanks

Hi Alex
Can see an advertisement (Ashburton) for Peter's hairdressing business (c. 1908) ... looks like they were (he and Lily) moved there 1905-06 (they were on two e/rolls).
But this looks like him also (accident report).
"Akaroa Mail ... " - 14 October 1913 - page 2
Serious accident ... Peter SULLIVAN, tobacconist ... formerly of Christchurch.
["Tobacconist" ... if you recall, many hairdressers also had a sideline in tobacco products. ]

In May 1912, the "Ashburton Guardian" ran a number of advertisements announcing the successor to Peter SULLIVAN, at Percy's hairdressing business. ???

Hello Lu
Looks like I may have (Michael) Peter Sullivan. Found that accident report in the Akaroa Mail.
Also in the Akaroa Mail on 03.04.1916 when a Peter Sullivan fell off the express at Seadown near Timaru and died in Timaru Hospital on 2 April 1916. There was a Peter Sullivan interred in the Timaru Cemetery on 04.04.1916, age unknown. There is no record on BDM for a death of Peter Sullivan on 02.04.1916 or the 04.04.1916 (Timaru Cemetery records).
Peter Sullivan does appear to have dropped the name of Michael after he married Lily Cotter on 1901. Somewhere between 1908 and 1916 Sullivan appears to have moved to Oamaru still working as a tobacconist and likely returning there when met with his unfortunate accident on the express at Timaru.
In all the circumstances now believe I have found Michael Peter Sullivan and Lily Sullivan.
Many thanks for your help.

Hi Alex
Yes, I'd also found the 1916 death (and I'm pretty sure it's the right man).
NZ BDM have it indexed as >
1916 - SULLIVAN - Peter - age "3Y"
~ Lu
-
Also these entries from e/rolls :
1914 - Timaru
SULLIVAN - Lily - married
SULLIVAN - Peter - music teacher*
... residing at cnr. Woollcombe and Stafford Streets.
[ * Did he change his occupation after that 1913 accident ? There are reports in Ashburton papers of a Peter SULLIVAN who was involved in musical activity in the area. ]
1919 - Timaru roll
SULLIVAN - Peter ... same address and occupation as 1914 ... no Lily on this roll.
[Probably above listing has missed being removed ? ]

Date of death of above was 1 April 1916(which matches the reports of death of the Peter SULLIVAN who fell from the train and died at Timaru hospital.)

Hi
Then there is the Peter Sullivan the piano tuner- photographer's assistant up for stealing in Timaru in 1900. Quoted as
"recently come to Timaru"

If he is the same person as the tobacconist he has tried his hand at everything, which may fit the comment on his mental ability in this article
