I'm afraid this image is too small to I.D. the cap badge.
If you have this you will need to give a high. res. scan of just his cap.

Could he have been in the R.A.M.C. Looking at the photo on his left arm is what looks like a circular patch with what looks like a little bit of the red cross on it.  Also on the right sleeve you can just make out the edge of a patch.  Badge looks like right size and shape.....just a thought??

Terry

I blew the photo up to get a better look.

There are quite a number of circular army cap badges with a crown on the top. The RAMC central motif is a serpent which gives the whole badge an open look.  This one seems rather closed and it doesn't look as though it has the motto underneath that an RAMC badge would have.

Good evening,

I think trullwell is correct, not RAMC. See badges below, L to R 1902/47, 1947/53 and 1953/58

Good evening,

I still think it could be RAMC, the photo is not a good scan so it is hard to tell if the badge is more open than it looks certainly when blown up it could be.....what clinched it for me was the round patches on the arm with what look like the edge of the Red Cross. I have a few of the old RAMC badges myself so was aware of what they are like....also my son was in the RAMC.  :)

We probably will never know ::)

I agree with Terry...The arm patch does look like a circular badge with a what looks like part of a cross...the cap badge has darker areas in places which indicates shade consistent with open work.
