I am interested in a James Palmer who married a Mary McCafferty in St Matthews Belfast 1927.

We can't post details of living, or possibly living people, here but if you want to trace James and his family back further then his marriage certificate should list his father's name and occupation which will probably make it easier to find him in the 1911 and possibly 1901 census. The names of the 2 witnesses might also help establish family ties.
