Title: BROWN/FINLAY of GREENOCK
Post by: louiseanne on Tuesday 09 July 13 22:56 BST (UK)
I'm lucky to visit Scotland from Australia next May and would love to "visit" a few ancestors in the cemetery. Could someone please do a "look up" or direct me where to go to get a location of graves in the Greenock cemetery? Details;
BROWN, Agnes (nee Finlay)                 Parents FINLAY, John and CAMPBELL, Janet
died19 Sept 1878 married to
BROWN, William (Town Mason)
died 27 May 1875                    Parents  BROWN, James (Master mason) and STRUTHERS, ELIZABETH

Agnes and William had Elizabeth (m. Capt John Frost) Mary (m. James Glen) John, Janet (m. Robert Collison) William (m. Ann Crawford) , Rachael and Emily (m. William Gardner).
I'd like to make the genealogical most of my visit, so if anyone has any other suggestions (besides looking up their addresses as well) I'd be most appreciative to hear them. Many thanks.

Hi louiseanne
you can contact
Inverclyde district council burial department(google search will give you the addresses),
and ask them to look up Plot and Lair numbers
for William and Agnes as you have their date of death,
but you would need to have the dates the others died as they charge you for each individual
if you dont have their death dates
they should also be able to email you a copy of the cemetery map to make it easier for you when you visit the cemetery.

Dear Elaine
thank you very much for your reply. Yes, I do have those other death dates (but I also put the names etc in just in case there were any descendants reading!)
