Hello,
I am trying to find a birth record for John Rudkin ( Parents Thomas & Martha Lingard ) who is supposedly born somewhere in Ireland around 1864.
I say supposedly as all the census records I have for him say he is born in Staffordshire, England, yet there is no birth record for him. My Father swears blindly he saw an old record his Nana had which had something to do with Ireland, John Rudkin and the date 1865.
I have absolutely no clue where abouts in Ireland he could have been born and as this is my first attempt at trying to research possible Irish connections, I'm a bit stumped as to where to look.
Any help with the search would be gratefully received! :)
Thank you.

My immediate reaction is that Rudkin is a rare name in Ireland and hence, is there a military connection with father Thomas?

Hello gaffy,
Thomas was a coal miner, as far as I know he was never in the military but I could be wrong, perhaps he served only for a short while?
I have noticed that there are quite a few of John's siblings who are missing a birth certificate as well. Charles in 1849, Jemima in 1854, William in 1856, Walter in 1867 and Ann in 1869. They all say on the census records that they are born in Walsall but there's no record of it. Maybe the records have been mistranscribed or are missing but I'm really hoping there is an Irish connection! :)

Hi Rachey,
Where do you have Jemima? I see her death now in 1854- Jemima Rutkin
I was looking at these possible births- have you checked them?
September 1848. Walsall 17 264. Charles Lingard
1851 Thomas Lingard Rudkin. I think you already have.
September 1853 Walsall 6b 438. Jemima Rutkins
There are some Russill etc births but there is a William Ruthins in March 1856 :-\
Of course, they don't help with John's birth!

Hello heywood :)
Yay! You found her death record? Thank you! I found her christening record on Familysearch and I did previously have her death for 1854, but when I looked again recently I couldn't find her death record anywhere!
I did think the birth you have found was Charles, but when I went back on Martha Lingard's line I found it was a nephew of hers :-\
William Ruthins...Hmmm... That does sound very possible. In the past my name has been misspelt almost like that ::) :)
Thank you for your searching heywood, I really appreciate it! :)

I can't see another Charles Lingard born at that time and there doesn't seem to be a death for a child.

Sorry ignore that bit about Charles! I am getting my Charles's mixed up :-[ :-[
That one is right, I think I have his birth certificate somewhere...
