Title: Morgan's of Somerset
Post by: KHartley on Tuesday 02 July 13 15:23 BST (UK)
Looking for more info about the family of Elizabeth Ann Morgan, born circa 1818, daughter of Robert Morgan. Married Joseph Creeden. Believe these Morgan's hail from Somerset - later censuses put the Creeden Family in Blackford/Wedmore area.

1841 Census Index for Joseph Creedn

John Creedon 60 Axbridge, Wedmore & Mark - believe born Cork, Ireland
Jane Creedon 50 Axbridge, Wedmore & Mark - believe born Devon
Joseph Creedon 25 Axbridge, Wedmore & Mark - born Somerset
Stephen Creedon 15 Axbridge, Wedmore & Mark - born Somerset

1861 Census Index -

Joseph Creedon 50 Axbridge, Wedmore
Elizabeth Creedon 40 Axbridge, Wedmore
Stephen Creedon 7 Axbridge, Wedmore
John Creedon 5 Axbridge, Wedmore
Jane Creedon 3 Axbridge, Wedmore
William Creedon 0 Axbridge, Wedmore
Jane Creedon 80 Axbridge, Wedmor

Quote
Jane Creedon 80 Axbridge, Wedmor

For some unknown reason the family are entered 3 times on the 1861 index - twice in Wedmore and once in Mark

However - none of the images show Jane in the same household as Joseph & Elizabeth.  She is a separate entry at a different address

When did Joseph & Elizabeth marry?

Do you have a copy of the marriage cert for Joseph & Elizabeth?

The only Joseph Creeden marriage I can find is June qtr 1842 Bristol 11 212

There is an Elizabeth Ann Morgan marriage in the same qtr but not on the same page and the reference is 11 218

EDIT

Marriage found on IGI

I did have the marriage info - unfortunately not readily at hand when I posted my message. On that 1861 Census Index, I know Jane was not in the same household as Joseph & Elizabeth but I am pretty sure that that Jane was indeed his mother. Believe she is living on her own with a nurse and another but neither person listed is related to her (I think).

Could this possibly Elizabeth A Morgan on 1841 Census Index?

Robert Morgan 45 Wellington, Wellington
Elizabeth Morgan 40 Wellington, Wellington
Elizabeth Morgan 20 Wellington, Wellington
Sarah Morgan 15 Wellington, Wellington
Henery Morgan 10 Wellington, Wellington
John Morgan 7 Wellington, Wellington
Amelia Morgan 5 Wellington, Wellington
Stephen Morgan 2 Wellington, Wellington

Wow... Robert was out young working!!! Into auctions myself - wouldn't mind a job like his LOL

Does Roberts occupation on the 1842 marriage cert match the 1841 entry - if so Bingo  ;D

OOPS - just checked the "tree" I have - Elizabeth's parents are supposed to be Robert Morgan & Mary Quire so I guess that is not the right Elizabeth on that census index....
