Hello
I am new to this forum, I am trying to trace the parents of Elizabeth Cooper who married Richard Cooper South Tawton Devon, both fathers are called John Cooper, witness on marriage certificate is George Crocker, any information would be appreciated. They married in 1849. Richard Cooper born 1818 married Elizabeth Cooper Born circa 1829.
I have come across John Cooper Marrying a Mary Nenor or Neno but not sure if this is Elizabeths parents. Richards parents were John Cooper and Anne Skinner.
Thanks

With such a common name it's going to be quite difficult.
I notice on the marriage entry there's a Jane Cooper marrying a Richard White at the same time.
So working on the assumption she might be a sister of Elizabeth I found this family in 1841:
Living with a Clark family in S. Tawton
Mary Cooper/30
Jane/15
Elizabeth/11
Mary/7
Ages 15 & over were rounded down to the nearest 5 in 1841.
There are a couple more Elizabeth's in S. Tawton b.C.1830 but I've discounted 1 as she has parents Henry & Mary who can be found in 1851 & the other has parents John/35 & Mary/50 with Ann/15;Elizabeth/9 & John/7 who could be possible.
It may be necessary to get Jane's marriage to Richard White & see if they are related or not.
If they are then they will probably be the 1st. 1841 family.
FindMyPast has 3 Elizabeth's & 1 Betty Cooper born S. Tawton 1828-31 unfortunately I don't have a sub.
Alternatively you could lash out £6 on the S. Tawton disc:

Hi Di
I am a member of South Tawton Facebook group and a fellow member is grappling with this identical problem may I ask on her behalf if you have resolved this problem. She is happy that John and Anne Skinner are her direct ancestors however it is the other parental John Cooper which is puzzling

I can only see 2 likely Elizabeths in South Tawton in 1841. One aged 11 with a Mary Cooper, Jane 15 and Mary 7 - Mary senior appears to be a widow and baptisms of children indicate her husband was named William which rules one out (plus she's still with mother Mary in 1851).
The other is with parents John 35 and Mary 50 - Ann 15, Elizabeth 9 and John 7. I would say this is the Elizabeth who married Richard Cooper - certainly, she is no longer living with family in 1851.

My Great Great Great Grandmother was Eliza Cooper born 1851 you will see from my previous post there is a gap for a child born that year.
I also came across years ago Richard Cooper marrying Elizabeth Cooper Address given as Zeal Common so possibly gypsy.
The dates of her birth and marriage are odd

Thanks for your reply I have informed my fellow South Tawton Family History (Facebook) member of your response. She appears to have exhausedly investigated this problem and is beginning to question her results. It appears to me that it would be beneficial if you both cooperated.

If you are monitoring this site, this may well be our missing link. Will have to investigate further but like you I am struggling to link up the Cooper family.
