Hi
Can anybody help with a Hayes family from Limerick.
John Hayes b 1810 with sons John b 1830 and cornelius b1832.
Both sons died in Whitby Yorkshire however I have not been able to trace anything within Ireland other than limerick.
Who did John ant marry, where does his ancestors come from.
I have so many questions but dot know where to start.
Any help would be much appreciated

Hi,
It sounds like you're already finding out that the combination of 'John' and 'Hayes' is going to be quite difficult to isolate in Limerick. However it might be worth logging onto Findmypast.ie this week as they will be allowing free searches of BMDs for five days from 27-30 June.
A trade/occupation might be useful to narrow down your search but I've been looking for a couple of years now and have been able to get no further back than 1820 on my McNamara ancestors from Limerick.
Good luck.

Hi All
I'm still struggling to pin down my Irish ancestors, my gg grandfather was born in Limerick (or the county Limerick as I have found out) in 1830 his brother Cornelius was born in 1832
Fathers names was also John (which does not help)
When John first lived in Whitby 1861 he was living with a servant Mary Ryan who was also born in Limerick, she was 16 so born around 1845/46 could this be a clue or am I just clutching at straws?
Any help would be most appreciated.
Cheers
Andy

Is he married or single? I can't find that census just yet **
** found it now, birthplace was transcribed as Luerwick

Hi
I think the birthplace is mis transcribed and is in fact Limerick.
John is listed as widow but a bachelor when he married.
