I'm kind of new to family history, and I've gotten stuck trying to find any records that will allow me to trace a family line. I know that the person I'm looking for was born around 1850 in Campo Fiorito, Palermo, Italy. His son was born in Camfarito, Carleone, Italy in 1875 and died in Salt Lake City, Utah in 1968. Does anyone have any ideas as to where I could go to find out more about them?

Hi there emgonnuscio,
I have found some help with records through www.italiangen.org They are a group based in New York, but have members worldwide, - and they allow access to the databases set up.... Big Italian connection - helpful. good luck

Hi,
The LDS have microfilmed records; check out this linkhttps://familysearch.org/search/catalog/results#count=20&query=%2Bplace%3A%22Italy,%20Palermo,%20Campofiorito%22&subjectsOpen=645249-50,843785-50
Good luck,

just as a small attachment to this post marty, the lds folk are making serious attempts over the next two years or so to upload online approximately 5 million records ( I believe that was the number in email to me) for the whole of Italy.... so it will be interesting to say the least to see what they do, but, regrettably like all their records it is much better to visit the actual collection of microfilms in Salt Lake rather than try to get thru local lds places ( not disputing that the service is good), but time consuming on the return to centre to view etc etc....\\
Ps thanks for that email marty regarding our latest forum posting on Emily for my lot....
good on ya

- Corleone and Campofiorito church records are online here.
There are also some civil registration records for Palermo (those start in the 1860s).
