Hi wonder if you can help me please.
I'm trying to trace the parents of the following siblings:-
William Harry Smith, born 1904, in Portsmouth, Hampshire
Dorothy Smith, born 1903, in Portsmouth, Hampshire
Jack Smith, born 1906, in Portsmouth, Hampshire
George Smith, born in 1908, in Portsmouth, Hampshire
Thomas Smith, born in 1910, in Portsmouth, Hampshire.
The only information I have has come from the 1911 census.
Any help would be most appreciated as I have come up against the proverbial brick wall, as there are so many Smith's in Portsmouth, I have no idea which way to go.
Many thanks for any help.

When you say the only information you have has come from the 1911, does that give the name of the parents or are the children living elsewhere? We are not allowed to do look ups from the 1911, but if you have access I believe it is alright for you to put what you have found to help us.

Hi,
On Anc***** there is a Family Tree which has the same user name as yourself, so most likely it is yours.
You have posted a copy of the 1911 on the tree and recorded the parents names as William Smith b. 1875 Fareham and Sarah Smith b. 1885 Fareham.
Therefore are you asking for details of William and Sarah's marriage/parents?
It would be advisable to purchase a birth certificate of one of the children which should give you their mother's maiden name. This would enable you to search for a marriage of William Smith and Sarah ?

What JJ says is right, with such a common name you do need to buy a birth certificate to make sure you follow the right family. Just a quick search gives at least 5 William Smiths marrying in Hampshire between 1900 and 1903 with possible brides Sarah.
