Hello Everybody, I am trying to find any information on my Great Grandfather David John Greer. According to census records and his army records he was born in MarketHill Armagh in 1863. On his Army records I have his next of kin is his father William Greer. On his marriage certificate of 1892 his father is a coach man named William Greer. David married and raised his children in Liverpool but on the 1911 census where he is with his wife and children at a Liverpool address, it has him as head of household but listed as a MarketHill resident. David was a saddle maker but he has also been described as a journey man. I would like to know who his mother was and any brothers or sisters. David died in Liverpool in 1923 and is buried at Anfield Cemetery, thank you. James

I wonder if this is David's Father's marriage in 1860? Markethill is in Mullaghbrack Parish.

There is a William Greer living in the townland of Mullaghbane.
David John would have been born before Civil Registration came into being, but in 1864, there is a female Greer born and in 1867 a Richard. Parents William Greer and Elizabeth Dermott (note spelling!) Both registered in Tandragee District, which is where some of my Markethill kin were registered.

We are researching Greer ancestors from Corlust, Armagh and believe that the William Greer who married Elizabeth Dermitt (Dermott) is the son or Moses Greer and his wife Isabella (Bell). If he is, he would have been their fourth son. Wm and Elizabeth had three children prior to 1866 (including a son, Richard) when they left for Wabasha, MN. We are trying to confirm that William's parents were the same Moses Greer, a Corlust Farmer at the time of Wm's second marriage in 1860, and Bell. On a trip last year to PRONI, we found the records of the births of their first three sons, John (1825), Alexander (1827), and Samuel (1828). Any help that would confirm William as their third son, born in 1830, would be greatly appreciated!
