In my tree I have John Meir Curzon who married Fanny J Webb. John's father was Horatio Curzon, who was a China painter/ dealer / merchant in Lancashire in the 1830's, as well as having business dealings abroad.
Horatio's father was William, and his mother Jane Curzon (nee Manly) was noted in 1824 as being in business. Pool lane Lancashire.
Horatio was in business partnership with Henry Mignowitz and Joseph Greetham in Lancashire and Canada.
A joseph Greetham married a Nancy Curzon 1825.
1.I am trying to find out who were the parents of Jane Manly and when did she and William marry ?
2. Was Nancy Curzon a sister to Horatio ?
Any help would be most welcome.

Horatio Curzon born 28th june 1809 - baptised 10th March 1811 at St Peter ,Liverpool
father William Curzon - mother Jane ,formerly Manly
fathers occupation - a China Painter
abode Pool Lane ..............so William was a China Painter as well as Horatio and had lived in Poll Lane since at least 1811..
do you have them in 1841 or 1851 census by any chance ?

You might want to check these out - possible prior to William /Jane coming to Liverpool ??
both baptised St Helen church ,Worcester (Worcester is famous for making China )
Ann Curzon baptised 25th July 1801 - parents William Curzon and Jane
Esther Curzon baptised 20th april 1807 parents William Curzon and Jane ....
if these are sisters to Horatio ...1801 / 1807 / 1809....births for William /Jane - I would think between 1801 and 1807 there is at leasr one more birth ??..could 1803 fit the bill ??
Nancy Curzon who married in 1825 - she was born in 1803 in Liverpool according to her marriage
so....did William and Jane have 2 homes ??...one in Worcester and one in Liverpool ...it certainly looks as if they had enough money to do this .....looking at these births and the Worcester china connection - I would think it`s feasible that William and Jane were back and forth from Worcester /Liverpool for business purposes and it`s very possible their children were Ann /Esther /Nancy /Horatio.....but ...we only have Horatio as definte ...

well...should be a lot more kids somewhere
William Curzon to Jane Manly 8th august 1790 at Whitmore Staffordshire
at least you have their marriage...in Whitmore ...so look for a birth around 1770
allan
ADDED
Jane Manley christened 30th january 1771 - father Thomas - Newcastle under Lyme ,Staffordshire
only one I could find that fits in Staffordshire ...that`s presuming she was b Staffs ??...we need Jane in 1851 census - if she lived that long ?
Whitmore - a small village near Newcastle under Lyme ...so looks a likely to me

Nancy/Ann was born Worcester according the to 1851 census so the baptisms look good. Jane Curzon was living with them in the 1841 census "not born in County". Her age has been altered down to 70 but could possibly be 74 or 77. :-\
Mo
Added: I think 74.

Hiya Mo ...just added a possible baptism for Jane in Jan 1771 - so 70 in 1841 would be spot on ...wonder why at her marriage Nancy says b 1803 Liverpool ....typical woman ...lied about her age ...lol...states she is 22 and he is 21 at their marriage in 1825 ..
anyway ..your info looks spot on to me

Allan and Mo,
Thank you so much for the information. I really appreciate the help people, such as yourselves give to others, in their quest to find their roots. Especially when we are on the opposite side of the world. Great work.
Now, if I can once more impose -
Horatio Curzon married Sarah Meir 1830. Would like any information about her. I know nothing apart from she married as stated.
Regards,
Paul

Looks like there are only 3 possibles
Sarah Meir christened 7th september 1813 St John,Burslem,Staffordshire - parents John and Sarah
Sarah Meir christened 17th April 1814 - same church - parents John and Tabitha
Sarah Meir christened 27th August 1815 - same church - parents Jane Meir - no father named
Obviously the name Meir is very prominent in Burslem ....
You would suppose that Horatio and Sarah would name children after their own parents ...
1815 Sarah would mean marrying in 1830 - she was only 15 ...-the other two 16 and 17 ...
so Sarah - whichever one it is ,married young
if you have them - could you post the names of Horatio/Sarahs children ...

Allan,
Thanks for the info.
John Meir Curzon, bn 1832 and
Emily Gertrude Curzon, bn 1840. I just noted that Burslem also noted for pottery etc. Wonder if Meir family involved. And is not the name Meir, Jewish ?

Hi Allan,
I have just realized I may have made a blunder. Re John Meir Curzon, I only assumed that Horatio's wife's' name was Meir, being John's second name.
In fact I need marriage info for Horatio Curzon, other than just Sarah.
I do apologise.

Paul
on familysearch there are 2 records
John Meir Curzan
John Muir Curzon .....so both look like spelling mistakes ....so you need the Marriage for confirmation of Sarahs maiden name ....I can`t find it on Lancashire Parish site ....

I know this post was a long time ago but my great-great grandmother was Sarah Curzon (Meir)'s sister so I have quite a lot about the Meir family. Is there any way to privately message you on this website - I've not registered before.
