Has anyone got an opinion on roughly when wedding photographs (as published in newspapers) became commonplace among the general population (not the rich or well-to-do)?
When did getting your wedding pictures done become pretty much affordable to the average working class couple?
Also, did this actually start by becoming a fad, or some kind of fashion trend?

My opinion for what it's worth. ::)
Professional Photographers started getting a bit more organised 1870's-1880's. Life events became one of their cash cows pretty early on and studios were set up pre 1900's so this is roughly when they became AFFORDABLE to the ordinary man. Of course not everybody used them but weddings really became the main event prior to 1910 roughly and grew from that. Wedding photo's in the news followed closely on as this was a newsworthy item and it sold papers. Magazines really didn't get going untill the 1920's and womans magazines say early 1930's. Of course there are exceptions to this and there was always forerunners.
