HI;
I just received some info on some 'Lost Aunts' of my husband's family,
I would very much appreciate any help in finding them,we live in Ontario
Canada and not too familiar with the various areas of England. Info as
follows;-
Ella Kathleen Kinchin,(b)June qtr 1909;St Marylebone,London.
Florence Louisa Kinchin,(b)Sept qtr 1911; St Marylebone,Lon.
Lillian Davies Kinchin,(b)March qtr 1914, St Marylebone,Lon
All 3 daughters of Alfred Hugh Kinchin & Alice Marianne Davies Kinchin,
Alfred Hugh was in the Middlesex Reg,Army.WW1 and wife Alice Marian
died 30 Nov,1919 Paddington,Lon. before Alfred Hugh got home, when
he returned he found his 3 youngest daughters had been put into a 'Home'
in Poole,Dorset;
I am seeking info on the girls,how long they were in this home and what was
the name,,,was their father able to get them back out,etc,etc,,,,,any info would
be great in clearing up this mystery.Last we heard of only Ella who was living
in Oxford in 1950's,,,thank you.
Kind regards;

HI Suzard;
A big thank you for your reply, yes this indeed is Aunt Ella,I remembered the name Hines,we lost touch back in the mid 1980's,she had a daughter,my husband's
cousin,can't remember her name now,but she married a USA Airman moved out
to Idaho I think,then got divorced, don't know where she is now. but Aunt Ella
was very close to my late mother-in-law Alice Marian,they looked sooo alike could
have been twins,,,thanks again,,I was just curious to what happened to them in
the children's home.
Info we got was Alfred Hugh stayed on in the army to help bury the dead,,,,
would he have got a 'Chelsea Pension' for that service,,,,his 2 son's Alfred
Henry (b)1893 & Henry James (b)1899 were also both in the Army,WW1
Quite a family eh,,keeps getting more interesting,,,,
Kind regards;

death age 91yrs in 2004,I believe it possible as her sister Ella K.also died 2004

:) HI Petur. :)
WOW how very nice to hear from you I just opened my computer to read your info. I have not had much luck finding the Kinchin family of my late mother in law. I do have details of some thanks to help from our RC, members.
What I am looking for is more details of the mother of these girls I have her death date but would love to find her gravesite. ??? I do have Alfred Hugh he is buried beside my in laws in Hendon Cem.
Also what happened to the 3 little girls who were in the home in Poole,Dorset We did find some records of a Bosward family living in Poole Dorset in early 1925. but I have'nt been able to connect them to my late husband's family ???
I would appreciate hearing your history of connection to the Kinchin;s and my late husband Bosward family if anything is known to you as you say you have lived in UK for many years,
We are located in Ontario Canada since the early 1950's I can correspond in a personal message
by email if you prefer. it would be great to add your family line to the others in the tree.
Kind regards;

Hello,
I have the following details for 4 girls with the surname Kinchin present at the Dorset Home in Poole in 1921:
- Elizabeth Kinchin, 14 years, 10 months old
- Ella Kinchin, 12 years, 3 months old.
- Florrie Kinchin, 9 years 10 months old
- Lily Kinchin, 7 years, 10 months old.
All four girls have their place of birth listed as London, and the census taken has noted that their mother is dead. I don't know how that lines up with the information you already have?
The Dorset Home was sometimes known as the Dorset Home for Girls or the Dorset Industrial School. It was located at 32-33 West Street Poole, and it opened in 1865 and closed some time in the mid 1930s. Girls were usually sent for a period of time, or until they reached a certain age. At the point in time when the Kinchins were there children of WW1 servicemen could be sent to an Industrial School if they had no other means of support. I hope this is helpful for you, if you're still looking.

HI
Thank you for your very nice message which I have just read and will now dig out the old files on my Kinchin relatives. I assume you have read the message from member Petur. it's been quite a long time and I'm not sure if I had any further contact with him as I have not been active on site due to serious medical issues from July 2020 through to my latest bout Feb.2024.
I am now sending Petur a PM. and hope he is still looking for family history news. I do appreciate your info on the four Kinchin girls resident in the school in Poole Dorset. I am quite amazed at the age of the girl's we were led to believe they were all very young almost babies,and their father was serving in WW1, their mother died about 1919 and an older sister Alice Marian Kinchin was in the house with her younger sisters. Alice Marian became my mother in law when she married Wm Charles Bosward in 1925 London.
Are you located in Poole Dorset ??? as I have another research of Bosward families living there who later emigrated to Australia. it's also quite a mix up of family history If you would be so good as to reply I will forward some query in hope you could help me sort it all out, :) Thank you.
Kind regards
Jane.
