Title: William Evans, Royal Marine Artillery, Napoleonic period

My ancestor William Evans seved in the RMA in Napoleonic times. He was born in Westbury Somerset circa 1779, died Coleford Glos 1853.

He is described as a Greenwich Pensioner in later records so must have had a long service, and lived long enough to be possibly awarded a Naval General Service Medal (a RM Private on HMS Kent got the Egypt clasp - I dont know if this was him - there were also two RM Privates at Trafalgar on HMS Bellerophon and Defence)

My understanding is that the RMA were employed on "bomb vessels" equiped with mortars. (Was this always the case - HMS Kent Bellerophon and Defence were not bomb vessels?)

What sources of information should I be looking at to find out more about his service?
