Title: records of school teachers around glasgow
Post by: hope1986 on Tuesday 11 June 13 00:23 BST (UK)
Hi all, does anyone know if there are any records available listing teachers in glasgow/kilmarnock in the late 1920's. Also does anyone know if women teachers had to give up their positions once they were married?

thanks

Margaret Thomson Davis's seemingly well researched novel "A sense of Belonging" includes teachers in Glasgow in the 30's and asserts that on mariage teachers were obliged to resign (apparently to make sure they had children of their own), she credited the Mitchell Library in Glasgow with help in her research.
