Title: Robert Gillespie married unknown woman & had these children. Who is mother?

1. Janet b. abt 1817 possibly Falkirk and father Roberts poor relief info in 1864 says at that time she is in the USA.
2. Alexander b abt 1821 possibly Falkirk.
3. Margaret b. abt 1823 possibly in Falkirk, and Robert's poor relief in 1864 says she is in Australia
4. David b. abt 1830 possibly Falkirk, Robert's poor relief app states David is a sailor in 1864
5. Millar b. abt 1831 possibly Falkirk.

I am unable to find any info on these children, except perhaps that Alexander married in Alloa to Isabella Grainger. I do not have his marriage info.

Would love to definitively find out who their mother was. If I could just get a wee bit more info to go on......

How have you linked each of these births/children to Robert?  Were they listed on the 1864 poor relief application you mention?

What info do you have on Robert - birthyear/birthplace etc from census info

Do you have him on 1841-1861 censuses?  Is he a widower on each census

1841 census for Falkirk shows this entry.  It may be as well to check the original on SP in case Margaret's age is wrongly transcribed - although she may be his mother

Alexander Gillespie married Isabella Granger 28th May 1855 in Alloa, as this is after the commencement of Statutory Registration downloading the marriage from Scotlandspeople should give you both sets of parents.
