I’m trying to place a Harriet King (nee Weddall) as niece of Edward Weddall (1743 Bubwith –1811) who mentions her in his will. I have found Harriet and her second husband on the 1841 census which gives a birth year of 1782. Her second marriage announcement in The Hull Packet 1807 states she is the only daughter of J Weddall Esq of Bankhouse Selby Yorkshire.
Thomas Weddall (Merchant) married Beatrix Barrett in 1728 they had to my knowledge the following children: Mary 1729, George 1733, Ann 1735, Charles 1737, Sarah 1739, John 1741 and Edward 1743. John Weddall had a daughter Sarah so he is not the father of Harriet. I am assuming there must be another son but I have not been able to find one.
I am also looking to tie Charles Weddall into the family. He was a ship owner and married Mary Ann Sefton in 1804 Preston Lancaster. According to the Lancaster Gazette Charles is of Bank House near Selby. Charles and Mary had the following children to my knowledge: Edward Charles 1805, Ann 1806, Mary 1806, William Langstaff Weddall (Reverend) 1807 and John George 1808.
I have wondered whether Harriet and Charles were siblings but I am missing some information to be able to piece them together into the Weddall family. I would appreciate any help with this enquiry. Thank you
Claire

Hi
As Harriet's first marriage was in Hemingbrough, I suggest you contact Selby Family History Group - web site is:
http://www.selbydistrictfamilyhistory.btck.co.uk/
or Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/125501287509918/521253187934724/?notif_t=group_activity
I know they have Hemingbrough Parish Records and it may give the name of Harriet's father.
The next meeting is on Tuesday morning, and if someone makes an enquiry, the Secretary usually asks the group if anyone is doing any research or has any local knowledge.
Hope this gives you a pointer

Hi Claire
I had another thought of "an avenue" for you. The Solicitors Weddall and Parker of Selby have over the years continued and are now Elmhirstparker and are proud of their 200 year old practice. They must have some access to information on the Weddall family. Contact details of their Selby offices are on their website.
