Hello Lyn...
Welcome to Rootschat :)
I'll assume you're starting from scratch so...
An Elizabeth Ann GEORGE married a Robert JEFFERY in 1879. They had three children that I could find, namely...
Hannah Blight JEFFERY b.1879
Edward Blight JEFFERY b.1880 and
Eliza Blight JEFFERY b.1882
The middle name of the children makes me think this Robert JEFFERY is your Robert but I've no proof of that.
The marriage and births can be found on the BDM NZ website.
https://www.bdmhistoricalrecords.dia.govt.nz (https://www.bdmhistoricalrecords.dia.govt.nz)
I note a Hannah Blight JEFFERY, daughter of Robert Blight JEFFERY, married a Charles YOUNG and is mentioned on the Australian Marriage Index. This index can be found on ancestry.com
An Eliza Blight JEFFERY marrying a Wm SCOTT is also mentioned in the same index. It possibly corresponds to the following record...
Auckland Born NZ'ers who married in Victoria, Australia
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~babznz/straysvic20.html (http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~babznz/straysvic20.html)
-----
A Hannah Blight YOUNG d.1955 is mentioned in the Australian Deaths Index, also on ancestry.com
Possibly corresponds to the following record...hope the link works
Adelaide Cemetery Authority

LDS has a possible arrival. A Robert JEFFERY from Cornwall arrived in NZ in 1874 aboard the Geraldine Paget". Aged 24 so born c.1850. Accompanied by a Harriet JEFFERY, aged 20.
Hope the link works...

Hi Beg and Leanne
Thanks so much for your efforts but I already have all the information and more about the family line in Aussie. On the 1871 census Robert aged 20 is still in Cornwell but married in NZ in 1879 his age listed as 24 so something is out there .Robert and Elizabeth had the 3 children in NZ and 5 more in Ballarat she died in 1896 he in 1903. There is a 5 year gap between the last born in NZ and the next in Ballarat dont know when the moved.
My mother remembers her Auntie Florie, Uncle Bill Shaw well also Auntie Annie, she never knew her name to be Hannah, the family story is she married an part aborigional and was alsot banished from the family. I have yet to sort that out. But there is another line here in Nz the came from one of my ggrandfathers siblings.
Also I have never been able to sort out Why Robert and Elizabeth married in Nz. She was born in Burra Burra in South Australia Elizabeth Anne George to John George and Elizabeth nee Allen in 1859 .As they were all miners I assume that is the common link. I have not done any work on this for years so I am a little rusty any help with shipping records would be most appreciated.
thanks again Lynm

Thanks Janette
But unfortunately this is not my robert Jeffery however this may be a relative so I will hold onto this info for the future. I am yet to investigate the other family members of James and Hannah Blight Jeffery. I do know that Hannah had a sister Joan as she is buried with her.

Source:1881 Electoral Roll

Have you tried searching under the alternative spelling?

Jane JEFFERY, a daughter of James and Hannah married a William ANDREW from the Illogan area.
They came to NZ via Ballarat in early 1870s.
GailS, a RC member is descended from them, and may have info about the other JEFFERYs.
They had a son John Blight ANDREW, who married two of my g-grandmothers sisters.

Must be something in the water I have just made contact with a lady (through RC) through my ALLINGHAM line, turns out it's a small world as she knows my sister from many moons ago.........
I do have some JEFFERY info but you will have to forgive me as it will take a while to get..........we shifted about 6 months ago and got a new computer so I put my info on a stick...........and when I plugged it into my computer there was nothing there :'( ..........but all is not lost..........I also put it on some disks...............and if that turns to custard I have a rellie who I got the info off in the first place.......
From my Family Tree (compiled a long time ago, not by me and has bits missing, and no doubt some incorrect info) (but a good place to start) Jane JEFFERY born to James and Hannah Blight, and Hannah's father being John. I know Janes parents lived in Illogan........possibly have access to some photos.........

Amazing
Firstly: in all the information I have on my ggrandparents there has never been a John in the family but it is hard to imagine 2 Robert B Jefferys in the same place at the same time! or is it ?
May be John belongs to Robert and Harriet Jeffery I still have to figure out where he belongs if at all.
The family name is Blight my GGgrandmothers maiden name but my grandfather never used it nor carried it on.
I have some documents that do spell the name the Jeffrey and others
There are so many more documents available now than there were when I originally did this. I thank you for all your help.
I dont know when Robert came to NZ but he married in 1897
So Ian C that would make us related also all be it distantly
kind regards LynM

Hi Gail.
Jane Blight JEFFERY is my GGrandfathers elder sister. I have Steven as her father and Mary as her mother but these are not confirmed by document.
No rush with the info I can wait.
