Title: looking for Maiden name.
Post by: STEPHENsaffin on Sunday 19 May 13 16:38 BST (UK)
I'm looking for a maiden name of a Hannah b.1797 in Winchcombe, Gloucestershire. Lived in Hanbury Worcestershire. d.1878 in Droitwich Worcestershire, who married married William Wells. Perhaps they married in Winchcombe??

Hi

I have found them altogether on the 1841 census, but this does not give the relationship, can you give the information for the other census you have found them on, I note that Hannah and Sarah were born out of the County and Alice and Ann were born in Hanbury and there seems to be an age gap between them and Sarah, I wonder if this may be a second marriage, also where does the information come from that Hannah was born in Winchcomb

Hi,

The only likely marriage I can find is -
William Wells to Hannah James 13th March 1826 by licence
William was from Hailes and the marriage took place at Hinton on the Green

NB Hinton on the Green transferred from Gloucestershire to Worcester in 1931

Hi Sue, where was that record from, there may be more information on it, if it was by licence

Gloucestershire Marriage Index 1800-1837 (CD)  Unfortunatley no further information on it.

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. The Winchcombe link for Hannah is in the 1851 census, where William and Hannah are in 'Little London' (house name?), Hanbury,Droitwich. Where did the marriage info come from that you found?? Many thanks for your hard work, it really is appreciated!
