Could anybody find some information for me please on the death of Thomas Bannell, a labourer, who died at the age of 31 at Ludgershall on the 16th October 1869. The death certificate gives his cause of death as 'Natural causes, disease of the heart' on the basis of information received from the Coroner, Spencer Clarke, as a result of an inquest held on 19th October 1869. Registration district is Andover, sub-district Ludgershall in the Counties of Southampton and Wilts so the boundaries seem a little confused. However, Mr Clarke is the Coroner for Hants so I guess that's the most appropriate place to look. Any additional info would be greatly appreciated.

Very few coroners' records exist for Hampshire before the middle of the 20th century. You may be best looking for information in the local newspapers.

There are the British Newspapers online, via findmypast (http://www.findmypast.co.uk/search/newspapers) - credits or subscription needed, or the British Newspapers itself (http://www.britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk/) - free to search but to view the whole article, a sub is needed.
Otherwise, Andover Library may well have some local newspapers on film or fiche.
No guarantee that there would be a report in it though. :-\
