IS any one studying the Revitt family from Shifnal. I am looking for information on Samuel Thomas Revitt ( occupation groom ) born 1890 and married to Mary Elizabeth Ward in 1909. He then seems to have vanished.
His father was William and he was a shoemaker
Anything welcome
Thanks
Val

Freebmd shows a child born in West Bromwich in 1913 - that's where they married
-
Freebmd also has a Helen Revitt birth in West B in 1909 but no maiden name shown
Forget that entry - different parents
-
Thanks for that I have a copy of James BC and he died with in weeks - no father named on the BC.
Mary Ward's daughter, Aunt "Dot", Frances Elizabeth was born in the July before they married and was registered under both Ward & Revitt.
Samuel Revitt does not seem to show up in the 1911 Census and I have no idea what became of him.
Thanks Val

I just checked this record and his occupation was a stableman, the Hollowman looks like where he was born
-
Great news - Stable man fits in well as he was a Groom in UK on his Marriage Certificate.
Well done and many thanks

I found newspaper articles that indicated that Samuel T. Revitt died after falling from a yacht in August, 1938.
On http://newspaperarchive.com/news/1938-08-12 (a subscription site, but non-subscribers can see 1 or 2 articles a day for free), there is an article about the police looking for his body.
On Google News Archives, I can see a portion of an article from the Baltimore Sun from 15 Aug. 1938 titled Samuel Revitt's Body Is Found In Patapsco. It says "fuel Firm Employee Disappeared From Friend's Boat Last Thursday Night ...The body of Samuel T. Revitt, 47, (illegible) fuel company employee, was recovered from..."
You can see him on the Baltimore death index here - http://mdvitalrec.net/cfm/dsp_jump.cfm?CurrentPage=2

This seems to be Samuel & his wife on the 1930 census - https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/X3W3-H9H His occupation is listed as plumber, and hers is nurse - private. Considering their ages at first marriage, it looks like they married around 1908.
A possible match for Samuel's wife in 1940 - https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/VTMZ-DN1

A previous marriage for Walter Charles Revitt to Lizzie Parsons in Manitoba 24 Dec 1920
http://vitalstats.gov.mb.ca/ListView.php
Lizzie Revitt died 14 April 1956 Victoria, British Columbia.

These dates would fit with a remarriage for Walter and Gertrude between 1956 - 1958 when they appear together on the Voters register.
