China has suggested that some of you talented people may want a go at this. The original thread was too old to modify so I am following her advice and re-posting. Do whatever you want with it.

Excellent as usual Tony, I love what you have done with it. THOPPP hello there, a new and welcome addition to the photo board and thanks to you also for your colouring.

That is a lovely photo. Nice jobs done on it.
That dress, such detail. I wonder how they laundered them (or indeed if)

Gorgeous Carolyn, thank you, it really brings her to life.

I have one in my collection which is very similar. What date would you put on it - Jim/China?
Lovely work done on her so far.
Rapunzel :)
Have just seen previous post asking the same question - sorry-
-
Hi Rapunzel, my fault, I should have linked it with the previous thread.

my color version..Regards, Tommy

Thank you Tommy, I will add this to the many versions you kindly sent me of another photo I had up a few weeks ago. I was just looking at the photo again, as I have dressmakers in my lineage, and thinking some poor girl must have worked her fingers to the bone making that.

I couldn't resist have a play with colouring this beautiful photo. I did 2 versions, the 2nd one I added some texture.
As a side note, just pre-WW2 my mother (and grandmother) were seamstresses and my mother worked in a large cleaners/dry cleaners in London. Fortunately she also wrote down her memoirs and spoke about how dresses like this (well at least along these lines) went through the cleaning production!. Happy to send anybody what she wrote if anybody is interested.
Thank you for sharing this photo Seoras, it was such a pleasure to play with it.
