Help the NLA improve Trove and win a Coles Myer voucher or a Trove T-shirt
The National Library of Australia has commissioned a research company, Gundabluey Research, to help us evaluate customer satisfaction with Trove.
You’re invited to participate in this survey by following the link below. Your participation will contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of the Trove service.
The online survey will take around 15 minutes to complete depending on your experience, and every completed survey goes into the draw for one of ten $100 Coles Myer vouchers or one of 20 Trove T-shirts.
Whether you’re a new or experienced user, an academic or a family researcher, or just use Trove to pursue your interests, we would appreciate your time. Your comments will remain confidential.
Please follow this link to start the survey: http://iquestion.completemr.com/Q219867/
For more information see the Trove User Forum: http://trove.nla.gov.au/forum/showthread.php?1446-Trove-Evaluation-Survey-Your-chance-to-help-us-improve-Trove!

Completed survey.
Thanks for letting us know about it.

completed survey, takes too long ::)
I wouldn't have the Word "Hacker" in your Avatar. Puts people off :o
I went straight to trove and sourced the survey from their site.
Neil :-*
-
Oh dear, Neil has his cranky pants on :-*
You are right though, it is too long. There only needs to be one question...
Is Trove - a) Really Excellent b) Moderately Excellent
Debra :)
-
Yes I thought that they asked essentially the same questions several times. ??? Well perhaps I misunderstood.
cheers,
Ros
-
Did my bit, but I agree, the quality of the survey leaves a lot to be desired. Did not instill much confidence in getting quality improvements to TROVE, when the Trove evaluation survey itself, was poorly constructed and in need of drastic improvement. NLA/TROVE resources could have been better spent elsewhere.
Despite its imperfections TROVE is accessed repeatedly as it remains a very important and handy online resource.
cheers :)

Trove fell over .... (service unavailable) :(
You'd think they would make an extra effort to keep it up and running while the survey was in progress ;D
cheers,
Ros

I'd love a trove tshirt :-[ But when it comes to winning anything i dont have much luck :'(
-
Oh goody, a survey. (I'm a bit of a survey junkie ;))
-
I've just completed the survey. :)
I disagree with those critical of the survey. I thought it was very well set out, simple to understand and always gave you an option to select "Don't know".
It took me about 17 minutes to complete but I did have a lot to write in the little boxes when given the opportunity. ;)
I didn't find the questions at all repetitive either.
I do loads of surveys and believe me, this was excellent and interesting compared to some that I do. ;D
PS. I would like a COles Myer voucher, but I never win anything either. :'(
-
Ha Ha surveys.I tell it like it is, if they want my opinion they get it-warts and all. It is a great site but needs a bit of work.Look at rootschat.Yes the old site was good but now it has joined the 21st century and I just love it. Cheers gmar
-
Me too Gmar - I delight in telling it how it is! ;D
-
PS. I would like a COles Myer voucher, but I never win anything either. :'(
Even a Trove T-shirt would do! ;D ;D
Dee :)
-
I dont have a Coles Myer near me so a voucher would be useless to me ::)
Anyway i would prefer a tshirt still ;D
-
Done the survey but won't be winning anything as I didn't give my details! ;) ;)
-
Why ask question re income?
-
Might as well asked if we could read. ??? ;D
Neil
-
I carefully explained that my first language is my spoken language as I could handle it long before I was taught to read and write. So I continued along and explained that my first language is Australian and then I added that I can read and write in the English language as well. ;D ;D
Yes, I learnt to answer in this way from one of my elderly rellies who has regularly answered the Census question re languages in the household etc as "Australian" and that English is a second language ::) ::) ::)
I declined to answer the income question, but I did give name and email address in case there's a tee-shirt or voucher at hand. If so, then hopefully that will come in handy at the mini meet at Newcastle :) eg perhaps as a "First Prize" for the person coming the longest distance ..... .... oops as usual JM is getting sidetracked ....
Cheers, JM

Maybe there should be a rootschat T-shirt? (or maybe there already is? I'm a bit slow these days :()
cheers,
Ros

Why ask question re income?
Surveys usually do, but there is always the option to decline. I think it is so they can work out the demographics of those who use Trove.
This survey was good in that you had a choice to decline to answer or were at least offered the option of "don't know". Some surveys force you to answer a question before you can continue with the survey - and often times you are compelled to answer even if you do not agree with any of the available choices.

:) I know there's nametags, but I have not heard of a rootschat t-shirt ....
-
Well I love the banner designs - I'd buy one or two if they were available
cheers,
Ros
adding : the ANZAC one was especially good - make a great T-shirt
-
I felt the survey was okay and I was happy to answer the income question - and yes, as with the age and employment status questions, it is to try to get some idea of demographics.
I think the later survey questions changed depending on your answers to previous questions (such as why or how often you used Trove), so many of us would probably have been asked different questions.
This was a lot better than one compulsory work-related survey I was required to undertake, which was clearly designed to get positive results. It only allowed "excellent/very good/satisfactory" or "greatly improved/improved/about the same" responses, with no ability to indicate that things were bad and had gotten worse, when there had been marked deterioration in many areas.

You might get a few funny looks wearing that Dee - considering the slang meaning for the Root part of RootsChat. ;)

I missed your question earlier Neil. It's 2.19 in the afternoon now .... ;)
-
Completed the survey and agree there is a great deal of repetition in the questions. I was just using it this morning following a request from someone in England. Found a mass of information on his family.
-
Aha a follow-up mini-survey. I wonder if we all got this? (of those who supplied e-mail).
I didn't think it was so much that the questions in original survey were repetitive - rather my answers :-[
To questions like "why did I use trove so often", "why would I recommend it to a friend" and "why would I be likely to use it in the future" my answers were pretty similar.
(I'm a trove addict)
cheers,
Ros
-
I didn't get a follow up survey. :'(
-
I did get a "followup" survey stating.
Due to a programming error, we need to ask you 1 very quick follow up question about new additions to the pictures, photos, objects section.

Well our local Myers store (before it was replaced by T) had a licensed cafe where you could buy a glass of wine with your meal. So I guess you just need to spring for a lunch-with-wine for a thousand of your most intimate friends Neil ;D
cheers,
Ros

Congrats Neil :) Good to hear someone win something.
I only wanted a lousy T Shirt and looks like i missed out :'(
Wonder if they would sell me one ;D
Well i emailed Trove and had a little sook and got this reply back ;D ;D
I'm sorry you didn't win a Trove t-shirt, and I'm also sorry to say that at the moment no further Trove t-shirts are being produced :'( We will soon have a Trove mug for sale and there are Trove badges available as well in the National Library bookshop.
I'll let our marketing people know that you wanted a Trove t-shirt, and hopefully in future we will produce them again.
