Hi,
I have just been fortunate enough to receive this photo - and am trying to narrow down who I think it is. My best guess is that it's my Great Great Grandmother with my Great Grandmother on her knee. My Great Grandmother (the baby) was born in 1879, her mother died her mother died in 1884.
I wonder if someone skilled in photo dating could look at the photo to see if it might have been taken around 1880/1.
I would also be grateful if the photo could be repaired (& coloured if you have time).
Thank you so much for looking.

I'm afraid this is much later, early Edwardian & it could be boy or girl as they were dressed the same.

Hi Everyone,
After a quick sleep in Australia I've come back to some fantastic restores and great information! Thanks so much Jim and China for your dating expertise - I'm a bit sad that it's not who I thought it was, but I'll work on solving this mystery. I wonder if you think that this photo and the other two (a girl and boy with a Mandolin that I've also posted recently) look like they could have been done at the same time - what do you think?
Irene, Yvonne, Terry, John and Tommy - your restores are amazing, thanks so much for all your hard work - I have so many great choices now. You've inspired me to track down these mysterious folk and put a name to them. All I have to go on is that my Aunt says she thinks these are our "English Rellies" - my Great Grandmother moved to Australia in 1908.
Thanks again everyone, I really appreciate your help and kindness.

We'd need to see the photo surrounds to tell if this is from the same time as the mandolin photos. Could you ask for a rescan to include the outer corners of the mounts? Very important dating clues!

China

My attempt at some colour.
Many many thanks to 'Terry h' whose wonderful restoration I used to create this.

Hi Mopsy Jay,
Thanks for the lovely colour - I absolutely love the colour of the babies dress.

Hi China,
Sorry I only have the digital scan, I'm not sure who has the original photo in the family, if I find out who does, I'll rescan - but at this stage this is all we have to go on - sorry!
