We're only talking about a difference of 14 miles. It could well be that she lived in Bloxford when she was young and so thought that she had been born there. It is such an unusual name that I'd be surprised if there were two children of the same name born about the same time.

It is possible that Thirza's mum left her with her parents whilst she took a job - often as a domestic servant.  Thirza may have grown up in Boxford not realising that she was from Ipswich originally.

That could be quite tricky. Just looking at Familysearch there are a lot of women called Sarah Self born in Suffolk between 1780 and 1800 ie the right age to be Thirza's mother. It is really a case of working through and trying to eliminate them.

I used to live in the Boxford Benefice, I have looked at Boxford, Edwardstone, Groton, Little and Great Waldingfield, Hadleigh Heath and Polstead and I can't find any Self families for your time period.

Is it definitely Boxford not Boxted?

Has anyone been able to check Ipswich St Mary at the Elms to see if mum was actually from that parish?
