Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction. Am located on the west coast of Canada and have completely hit a wall with my Tedford family and connecting them to Belfast where my great-grandfather was born (James Tedford). Fortunately I do have a Belfast connection to my family in a great aunt believed to be a sister to my great-grandfather. My great-aunt Emily Rosbotham (spelled in a variety of ways on several documents....Rossbottom, Rosbottam, Rosbotton) married William Rosbotham on the 29th Mar 1875 (she is listed as Amelia Tedford) On her marriage certificate her father is listed also as James Tedford. Where would I search to find the members of this James Tedford family? I am aware of the 1901/1911 census that includes Emily Rosbotham & daughter Amelia. I am also in possession of the original grave record certificate where Emily & family are buried in Belfast City Cemetary. Is there anywhere to see what relationship is between all of these Tedford families in Belfast from the early 1800's? Name is not common...but a great amount in Antrim & Armagh. Any help greatly appreciated!! Thanks to Aghadowey for including me on a recent post with maggiemay13 who is researching a Tedford Orr :)

To start with I've moved your post from ANTRIM RESOURCES & OFFERS (which is not for queries) to ANTRIM. You've asked for information about this family several times already-
Belfast baptismal records/lookups (http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,246806.msg1353322.html#msg1353322)
Church of Ireland records (http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,543884.msg3975950.html#msg3975950)
Also several posts on this thread-

If James Tedford (your great-grandfather) is a brother to Emily/Amelia then she is your great-great-aunt.
Here's Emily and daughter in 1901 census- Emily's birthplace Co. Armagh and born c1845.
www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Antrim/Falls/Elizabeth_Street/951250
They are here in 1911- Emily's birthplace County of Armagh and born c1844.

Emily's father listed as James on marriage certificate but what's his occupation? names of the two witnesses? Have you found Emily's brother James in any census records?

Burial record from City Cemetery gives Emily's age as consistent with both census records-
Emily Rosbotham, age 79, 58 Thames St., died 2 Mar.1924
Husband- William Rosbotham, age 46, 69 Elizabeth St., died 23 Nov.1898
Added- if William's details are correct then he was about 10 years younger than Emily.

Hello Agahdowey,
I note the site has changed slightly...yes still trying to find my Tedford family. The "Gary Lindmeyer" family is my American family sharing the James Tedford line. I contacted "mandrake" re her Tedford family a few years ago and didn't find any relationship. The "Aussies" seem to be another branch. As I said, I do have a Belfast family (Emily Tedford Rosbotham) and wondering where I find the James Tedford family associated to Amelia (Emily) Rosbotham. Her marriage cert. shows her father as James Tedford, Labourer, of Stanley Street. thanks!

The marriage certificate shows her father James as a labourer. Residence at time of marriage was Stanley Street, Belfast. Witnesses: Andrew Murphy, Catharine Cotter. These names have no family relevance that I know of. James Tedford B. 1846 (Emily's brother, my great-grandfather) seemed to have left Belfast as a young man, married in Canada, approx 1865 and appears in records with the birth of his 1st child in 1866. Amelia (Emily's daughter) came to Canada around 1924 and joined our Tedford family (marrying her 1st cousin James Joseph Tedford). We have census records suggesting that Emily & James' mother's name was Mary.
