Title: Jenner-Battye
Post by: Geof the Canuck on Sunday 05 May 13 15:01 BST (UK)
Posting this on behalf of a 2nd cousin. Her father Frederick Gerald Jenner (1922-1992), married Doreen M. Battye in the Pancras district Middlesex (London) in the period April-June 1942. They split up, and then Doreen died in the early 1950s, but they did have one child, a son. It is thought that the child went to live with his grandmother in Wales.

My cousin is curious to know more about this part of her father's life.

Geof

Hi - not quite sure what information your cousin is hoping to find, but Doreen's 1953 death registration details are easily found on FreeBMD, as is the son's birth (both in Wales).  He is still living so details of him cannot be posted on Rootschat.

Ah, thanks! From my Ancestry.com view, I thought I had access to FreeBMD up to 1915 only.

If you've got an Ancestry sub, then you've got FreeBMD up to 1915 and then the GRO index right up to 2005-6.

Plus of course FreeBMD per se on www.freebmd.org.uk up to wherever they've got to  :)

Is the FreeBMD considered complete for around 1922? I can't seem to find Doreen, assuming that she was born in the UK.

FreeBMD's coverage charts claim complete (or virtually complete) coverage of births in England & Wales in 1922:

She may have switched her given names around - there's a birth for Marion D. Battye in Swansea, Mar qtr 1922.

Thanks. I did do a search from 1919 to 1925 for all Battyes but I wasn't as sharp as you.

Some info sent privately for contacting the son (just wanted to note that here in case anyone else thought to do the same).

My 2nd cousin, once removed and her half brother have been connected. Needless to say he was stunned to read he had more relatives in Canada. Thanks to all who helped. Both of them are trying to fill out gaps in each other's childhood.

Off to see if I can find out about access to Fleet Air Arm records. That is what their father served in, in WW II.
