Hi
I have a death cert for 1883, the person resdident in Sandrocks (left of wivelsfield asylum), attributed in some instances to keymer, but the district on the death cert is given as Cuckfield. I've been right round the cuckfield, ansty, haywards heath, hassocks parish loop and nobody has her details. I have looked on the Cuckfield online burials with no luck.
Can anyone save me a trip to chichester record office please?
from the death cert: Elizabeth Perry died 11 may 1883 aged 75, reg'd 18th may 83, resident at sandrocks lodge, keymer. She was bn in North newnton, wiltshire 1808 if it helps.
and i might as well ask for her daughter also in Cuckfield district as i may end up going round the loop again: Martha Wickham (nee Perry) 1st qtr 1917 aged 82 cuckfield, sussex. Bn 1836 charlton st peter, wilts.
thanks

Cuckfield registration district covers a very wide area. See http://www.ukbmd.org.uk/genuki/reg/districts/cuckfield.html
People do not have to be buried where they died, particularly if there is a strong family connection elsewhere.
The Cuckfield online burials are only those in the cemetery in Cuckfield village itself.
Have you looked at the book about the Asylum? "Sweet Bells Jangled Out of Tune". That may mention local burial places and show which were in use in the years you want.

Ok i found or rather sussexfhs found elizabeth for me, she's buried at the Bethel particular Baptist chapel in Wivelsfield. I know the inscription, and i've contacted the chapel to see if they have any more perry burials or her family members.
With regard to the Wickham burial, i realised her husband mark wickham also died in in the cuckfield district in 1910 so i've been looking for both. With no luck finding them online, i've concentrated on their residential area which was Burgess Hill. i tried the parish council who put me on to St John's, but came up blank. There don't seem to be burgess hill burials on the sfhs site so i don't know where to go from here. I thought it would be simple for 1910 and 1917. Any ideas?
appreciate any help
thanks

When did the Burgess Hill cemetery open? Might be in there rather than a churchyard.

if you mean the burial ground then it was very recent in 2004.

Think people sometimes forget - or don't know - that there is a second church with burials in BH! Glad you found some that you were looking for :)
