Hi
I'm searching for any information about a Timothy O'Brien born possibly County Clare somewhere around Tulla. His family were farmers, he had a sister named Ellen who married a John Malley and they lived and died in Tulla, Ireland. He immigrated to Australia, not sure when, and had a farm around Kyneton Victoria. His niece, Catherine O'Malley visited him sometime in the late 1890s.
Any help would be appreciated
Regards
Christine

Christine you need first of all to contact the moderator to get your post moved to the Australia board. (Click on the Report to Moderator thingy in your post.)
Then someone with Victoria interests may be able to help you, but they probably would not see it on "How to use Rootschat" ;D ;D ;D ;D

Christine, do you happen to know the names of Timothy O'Brien's parents?
That could help in a search for him in the Victorian records, as there are a lot of Timothy O'Briens listed and a number with the birthplace of Ireland.

East Trentham is south west of Kyneton. Have a search on google maps.
Some speculative research but this is the only O'BRIEN who are farmers in the area but this is in 1903 the first roll after Federation and following the visit of Catherine.

Great work, Cando and thanks for letting us know that Cloundes has found some family.
In case they have not seen it PROV has the digitised will for Timothy OBRIEN, d 26 April 1909, farmer of East Trentham. The will was made not long before he died and is written on a piece of paper with a view of Trentham. He left all to his wife, Margaret.

I think she may have found it Judith...I posted the link in the rather long and messy post.
I can't believe I found the right family....pure luck really and being familiar with that area. Gee I am starting to sound like the song "I've been everywhere man, I've been every where...." :P
Cheers :)
