hi there im trying to find info for my ancestors out of poland. Any one here know of any sites i can check for info from poland . im looking for info on vincent kasiorkiewicz born about 1894 and his wife helen kasiorkiewicz born around same time and if i remember correctly one was born in or near poznan in poland they had one child named clara helen kasiorkiewicz who was my grandmother. any help would be GREATLY appreciated
-
I can see them on the US census - one daughter Clara but also three sons, are you aware of this? (Won't name the sons - I can
familysearch.org shows them together in 1940 - where the eldest child was a son born about 1921 Ohio.
There is also a death for Vincent Kasiorkiewicz b. 05 Jul 1894 d. 25 Aug 1950, parents Casimir and Magdalene.
A marriage in Ohio, 1919, for Vincent Kasiorkewiecz and Helen Gajewicz
And both WWI and WWII cards for Vincent:
Vincent Kasiorkiewizz (WWII) - gives him as 05 Jul 1893, place of birth Warsaw, Poland
Wincenty Kasiorkiewicz (WWI) - gives him as 05 Jul 1893, place of birth Swierczynik, , Russia
Other censuses are hard to find because of the variant spellings. Think "Vincent Kasurkiewcz" in 1920 - and John Geyewicz with him is probably the father in law (although on the index his relationship is not given), and Vicent Kasnubiekiewicz in 1930 - where it states that he emigrated in 1913 and Helen in 1908.
Interestingly, there are also two sons in 1920 and 1930 who were born before the 1919 marriage - it's not clear if they were from either Vincent or Helen in a previous relationship, or if they were together before 1919 but weren't able to marry until after the war for some reason.

thank you for the response . yes I am aware of the brothers . the oldest being Sylvester and the other Daniel. however I cannot seem to be able to search or find their parents .also having trouble finding much about either Vincent or Helen from before the 1920's .I would really like to be able to trace back both sides of my moms family ,I've asked her all she knows, and this is as far as we have gotten . I'm also looking for my grandfather's parents (parents )they were frank and Josephine Lewandowski. but I cannot find their parents. my mother also said she remembers her mom possibly having two half brothers or step brothers

Hi
As I said whoever transcribed it for ancestry got it wrong, and the image is very faint. That is why someone else who is possibly connected to the family and goes by the acronym of daciodan put in a correction to the ancestry on 7 April 2013. Does your local library have the free version of ancestry? You could look at the image then.
Does this family seem like it could be the one you are after?

Hi and welcome to Rootschat :)
Using Geneteka ( http://geneteka.genealodzy.pl/index.php?op=se ), (Chrome offers you the option at the top of the page to translate into English, but Nazwisko = Name, Wyszukaj = Search, od roku/do roku = between the years - have a play around with it), there is a baptism for a Wincenty Kasiorkiewicz in 1892, in Świerczyn http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C5%9Awierczyn,_Kuyavian-Pomeranian_Voivodeship :
Baptism: http://www.geneteka.genealodzy.pl/index.php?op=gt&search_lastname=kasiorkiewicz&rid=B&w=02kp
Marriage of Kazimierz Kasiorkiewicz to Magdalena Lewandowski in 1878, Świerczyn :

Kind regards
Gaie
Added: So are these two separate Lewandowski families, or have cousins married?

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/K3LP-91V
Marriage of Bennie Lewandowski and Clara Kasiorkiewicz gives Josephine's surname as REGULSKI.

Okay talk to my mom again starting with Benny lewandowski. He was born July 15th 1909 or 1910 immigrated here when he was three with his mom Josephine either Brazil or Argentina add one younger brother named Adam three older brothers Walter Henry and Leo two sisters Anna and Virginia. Parents were Frank and Josephine. And that's as far as I can get with his side of the family
Now for Clara Helen Lewandowski parents were Vincent and Helen Kasiorkiewicz she had quite a few brothers Ray Sylvester Daniel and Lawrence. Maybe a few others but the two oldest brothers were half brothers from what my mom tells me ,Clara was born in the USA but I can't find a birth certificate. And can't find any info as to her parents with any certainty any ideas on their parents I cannot find anything
as far as being two separate families from the previous post I don't know because I see those two names intertwined

Hi
This seems a better fit for Lewandowskis in 1920:
Lucas, Ohio
All born Russia/Poland except Alexander, born Ohio - Added: and Anthony born Pennsylvania! ? !
Frank LEWANDOWSKI Head 47
Josephine Wife 43
Anthony Son 24
Walter Son 23
Leon Son 18

Andrew Son 14

Bernard Son 10

Anthony Son 32 b Pennsylvania

1930 Census
Toledo, Lucas, Ohio
Bennie LEWANDOWSKI Head 21 b Ohio
Constance D Wife 21 b Ohio
Bennie may have assumed he was born in Ohio, or the 1920 census may be have been filled in incorrectly.
The 1950 marriage licence for Bennie & Clara shows that Bennie was divorced in 1946; there were no children from the first marriage.
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/X44N-T3B
-
I know for sure that bennirs wife Clara was born in 1926 or 1927..Bennie was born July 15 1909 or 1910
-
Bennie & Clara's marriage licence states:
Both born Toledo, Ohio.
Bennie's dob July 15 1910
Clara's dob Apr 23 1928 Mother's Cert. 1807
Bennie's occupation: cloth cutter
Clara's occupation: factory worker
Both fathers were born in Poland and were deceased at the time of the wedding
Both mothers were born in Poland, were housewives and were resident in Toledo, Ohio
There is reference to a birth record for a "Clara Kasiorkiewi" (as indexed on Ancestry) in the Ohio Birth Index 1908-1964; unfortunately I do not have a sub. You could view it at your local library if they have a subscription to Ancestry.
-
Clara Kasiorkiewi
23 Apr 1928
1928033927
Vincent
that is the only info on the Ohio birth index you referenced above
-
Well, at least that ties up with the marriage licence and confirms that there is a birth registration for her.
I don't know what the rules are for applying for an Ohio birth, marriage or registration; would your mother have to apply? You don't say in your profile where you live; are you in the USA?
Can I suggest you make a new posting on the US boards ( http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/board,164.0.html ) with a link to this thread, asking for help with the US records for your family? You can copy the link from the top box of your browser; it should look like this: http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,645041.0.html ; or copy my link!
We can still carry on this thread, but at least the US experts can see what has already been found and won't have to duplicate searches/finds.
I hope that makes sense ;D

Yes, I think you're right about that 1900 census; there appear to have been two Frank & Josephine Lewanowski couples, but your lot seem to have come to the US later than that.
Ok, I'll make the post for you....

Hello. I hope I'm useful. My greatgreat grandmother Marianna Kasiorkiewicz was born in 1890 in Kuznice, near to Swierczyn. She was married to Walenty Pietrzak in 1907. Her mother was Jadwiga, I don't know father. In Kuznice lived also Michal Kasiorkiewicz, he might be Jadwiga's brother or nephew. As far as i know, and i'm pretty sure, Marianna was Jadwiga only child.
There you can see a few Kasiorkiewicz http://www.geneteka.genealodzy.pl/index.php?op=gt&search_lastname=kasiorkiewicz&rid=B&w=02kp . Osieciny and Kruszyn are also quite close to Swierczyn and Kuznice.

Hello,
my name's Andrzej Nejman and I am related to Vincent Kasiorkiewicz. Vincent was my great grandmother's cousin. I have a family tree of my Polish Kasiorkiewicz family, including Vincent's ancestors.
I would be really glad to share all the information with you - in exchange for some information about the American branch of the family.
Feel free to contact me here or on Facebook.
All the best
Andrzej

I am just now finding this thread and can hopefully shed some more light on this complicated relationship between Vincent and Helen.
Helen Grezgorek was married once BEFORE her marriage to Vincent Kasiorkiewicz on November 10, 1919. Helen was my great-grandmother. Helen was married to Michal, (Michael), GAJEWICZ. With Michal, Helen had two children... Raymond Bernard Gajewicz, (my paternal grandfather), and Edmund Gajewicz. Michal died on April 11,1919 from a surgical accident. He was 25 at the time. Helen remarried that same year to Vincent Kasiorkiewicz. Vincent and Helen subsequently had four children: Sylvester, (Uncle Sally), Daniel, (Uncle Danny), Clara, and Lawrence, (Uncle Larry).
My grandfather casually went by the last name, "Gibbs". He never officially changed his last name from Gajewicz. He told me once that he just never got around to it. Long after he and grandma died, many people still thought their last name was, "Gibbs", and grandpa's nickname was, "Gibby", so it must have seemed to make sense. His obituary, I believe, had to read, "Raymond Gibby Gibbs Gajewicz", just so his friends knew he had died. Uncle Eddie, grandpa's brother, legally changed his name from Gajewicz to ,"Guy".
I was born in 1963 and I knew my great-grandmother and all of the great aunts and uncles mentioned here and have information on them all if there are any family members interested.
Hope this helps.
-
I forgot to mention that my Uncle Larry changed his last name from Kasiorkiewicz to Kaisor or Kasior. He did not go by Kasiorkiewicz as an adult.
