Title: Can you help identifying a uniform (and era) please?
Post by: Bagpuss_Janet on Friday 26 April 13 20:14 BST (UK)
Can anybody help to identify the uniform in this photo please?

Also, I'm trying to see if I can date it.  I realise this is practically impossible but I thought it was worth a shot. :)

Thanks in advance.  :)

ETA:  I'll see if I can capture the badge a little larger.

ETA Again!

WW1 era.  I think you will find with that Tunic and titles that he is probably a Canadian soldier.  He is not British.

The Canadian tunics had more buttons down the front.  The belt is 'wrong' for a British soldier.

Era must be around World War I. The lady's fashion suggests earlier rather than later.

I can't get a clear look at the shoulder titles or the collar badges but I notice he seems to be wearing two lanyards - one braided and one plain. It's not something I've seen before and it may have been quite common at the time but no doubt our residents experts will enlighten me !
