Title: Cleminson in Lancaster
Post by: Govinda501 on Wednesday 24 April 13 21:24 BST (UK)
Hello
I am looking for a marriage between William Cleminson and Rebecca.  They appear to have had children in Lancaster in the years 1781, 1783 and 1790.  I can't find a marriage that would fit these dates.  Any help would be much appreciated.
Thank you.

There was a Rebecca Cleminson born in 1805 to George and Jenny (Jane?) Cleminson.

Have you seen the Lancaster Priory grave inscriptions?

Hope this link works - the site is now archived on the 'wayback machine'

Doesn't help with Rebecca's maiden name, but you can see another child John, who died in 1777 aged three.
The Cleminsons were joiners, I can see plenty of references to them in the Lancaster Gazette on the newspaper archives, but the William/Rebecca marriage is too early for that paper.

Thank you for the link Barbara.  I also saw lots of mentions of the Cleminsons in the papers.  I can't pinpoint William Cleminson either.  I think he was born in 1748, but it was a rather popular name.

Thank you so much for that marriage date!!! I had decided Rebecca was a Birket and have her possible parents but not at my computer at the moment. I suspect your William Cleminson born about 1781, Black Sheep, is the son of William and Rebecca.
