I subscribe to Findmypast and when looking at a series of census pages earlier found I could not close one of the image pages, which is still lurking. When I try any of its links - previous or next page, or try to close it, I get a chime from my computer but no other response.
FindMyPast advised deleting cookies etc and restarting - I have tried their process but the page is still there.
I can still access other sites, but this is a nuisance.
I use Mozilla Firefox for web access. I am no expert, as you can tell.
Any helpful advice please?

FindMyPast (Australia site) are doing free military transcript viewing during Anzac week (this week), this includes the British and American databases. It could be that FindMyPast is very busy, I know I have encountered lots of problems since monday, I'm not sure if FindMyPast can cope with the amount of lookups people are doing....

Are you saying that it is still there even after turning off the computer and rebooting?
-
I have had this problem occasionally and have use the combination of control, alt and delete to bring up task manager and closed it that way.

Thanks for your interest, folks. In order:
1. FindMyPast did not mention this freebie when I asked them for advice.
2. Yes, the rogue image survived all I had thrown at it, until
3. Bingo! The triple keying deleted it, and rebooting gave a clear screen.
I shall have to remember that in case of repeats.
Many thanks to all and goodnight.
